Let us end the veto power of the permanent members through the voices of citizens around the world!!

The United Nations, whose greatest role is to safeguard peace, is now paralyzed by the veto power of the permanent members of the Security Council. The world has yet to stop the massacres in Ukraine and Gaza. Can we really afford to stand idly by?

The UN now stands at a critical crossroads. If this paralysis continues, countries will lose trust in the UN, and not only peacekeeping but also activities related to the global environment, human rights, inequality, poverty, pandemics, support for developing countries, and cultural heritage will be gravely affected.

If this situation continues, the idea of abolishing the UN will inevitably arise, and in the worst case, even its dissolution may become a reality.

Should that happen, the world will sink deeper into confusion and chaos, wars and destruction will spread, poverty and famine will prevail, global boiling will surpass its limits, modern civilization will collapse, and humankind may be driven to the brink of extinction.

I am deeply concerned that unless we fundamentally reform the United Nations now, the world will head toward ruin.

To prevent such a tragedy, citizens across the globe who value the Earth and life must raise their voices together.

We must urge world leaders to begin by enabling a majority vote of non-permanent members to override vetoes, and ultimately to abolish the veto system through strong UN reform.

Some may say that this call is unrealistic. But unless we take the first step, nothing will change. I believe that if the voices demanding reform swell into a great wave spreading across the world, it will by no means be impossible.

To eliminate massacres and wars from the world and pass on a peaceful and beautiful Earth to the children of the future,

Let us end the veto power of the permanent members through the voices of citizens around the world!!

Thank you very much.
