Complaints | I made a new friend by Web Writer Lab
To those meeting me for the first time, hello. I'm Funo. I'm a web writer in my late 30s who prefers salt, mayo, and lemon on takoyaki.
To those who follow me! Thank you for putting up with my daily talk about “tomorrow's bread”.
In my 32nd note, I'm reporting that I made a new friend through a Web Writer Lab talk!
…If you're wondering what “tomorrow's bread” is, please take a look at the note below. I'm accepting comments indefinitely.
This was my first-ever Lab Talk. My partner was, believe it or not, none other than...!
Mr. Kanazawa! Wow! I was so surprised when I got the matching notification that I went “?!” I was absolutely stunned that someone wanted to talk to me, and even more so that it was Mr. Kanazawa!
After the matching, we received the scheduling details. When I mentioned that the earliest I could do was Saturday, July 5th at 12:00 PM, he said he wanted to do it as soon as possible, so we held the Lab Talk today.
When the time came, I waited on Zooo. Since I call myself Chatty Round Glasses, I didn't participate wearing my round glasses, but rather with clear Wellington-style frames.
Yes, I was hoping for the first line to be “Hey, where are the round glasses?!”
However, Mr. Kanazawa just smiled.
I couldn't help but push my glasses up and say, “Mr. Kanazawa, isn't there something you should say?”
“Oh, I just thought you changed your glasses.”
Mr. Kanazawa gave me a retort that my joke was hard to understand, and the Lab Talk began cheerfully (while I laughed so hard my jaw almost broke). (I changed back into my round glasses.) *I am correcting this because there was an error in some of the expressions.
…The content of our conversation will remain a secret between the two of us, but Mr. Kanazawa is actually going to come visit me in Iga. We've set the date, and as promised, I've booked my favorite restaurant.
I don't have any friends.
Can I really call them true friends? The only ones I feel I can are two gaming friends I've known for about 10 years and a girl from my former workplace who is about 10 years younger than me.
But we only meet once every three to six months. According to my husband, the reason I don't have friends is because “you aren't even trying to be friends in the first place.”
I'm the type of person who is fine going to the movies or eating out alone. I never participated in small talk, complaining about husbands, or neighborhood gossip, and I never made any 'mom friends' either.
But it's not that I dislike people; I actually love people. I have a lot of love to give.
...However, I felt that superficial or casual friendships were unnecessary for me, and that's how I reached the age of 40.
In the midst of all that, I met Kanazawa-san.
To put it bluntly, I made a friend today!I declare loudly, 'I am friends with Kanazawa-san!' and I mean it.
...Anyway, it was such a fun hour that time flew by in an instant. I'm already looking forward to August.
The other day, my husband's mother told me she made a new friend on a bus tour.
My mother-in-law is 75 years old now, but she is very youthful and active. Since she has been a company president for a long time, she also has excellent communication skills.
She said, 'I wish I could have made friends like this when I was younger,' and I had just been telling her, 'You can make friends anytime, even now.'
At that time, I told her, 'Age doesn't matter at all; you can make friends, and it's precisely because you have the money and mental space that you can do whatever you like.'
I had been thinking that I wanted to make more and more friends from now on, so meeting Kanazawa-san felt likethe words I said to my mother-in-law were coming back to me.
Today's Lab Talk made me so, so, so happy.
Kanazawa-san's smile is truly healing itself, and when I remember how happy I felt, I feel a bit warm and teary-eyed.
Thinking that there are still many encounters to come, I felt like I could be proud of my life.
Maybe there are still people in this world who will say they like me. Wow, I'm excited! I truly feel that my life is something to look forward to!
That's all for today!
...I will have achance encounter (I apologize and correct myself, as we have already met) with Kanazawa-san in Iga, and on the day we promised, I think we'll talk about 'tomorrow's bread'.
