This time, it is a story about going to Shinsekai in Naniwa (where Tsutenkaku is) to listen to Rokyoku for the first time in my life ♬
Over 50 years ago, when I was in my second year of junior high school, I was a morning person, so during midterms and finals, I would go to bed at 10 PM and wake up at 3 AM to study for exams.
By the way, I have only pulled an all-nighter twice in my life, and since I won't do it for the rest of my life either, it is only twice in my entire life!!
I would wake up to an alarm at 3 AM in the winter, go to the pitch-black kitchen, turn on the lights and the heater, and start studying at the dining table. After 5 AM, my father would also wake up and make me instant coffee so I could take a short break.
At that time, when I turned on the radio, "Ohayou Rokyoku" and "Watashi to Rongo" would start every morning. I wasn't interested in the Analects, but as for Rokyoku, it went, "Mori no Ishimatsu is a good man~" 『

Oh, oh~, this is it!! My memories from junior high came back, and I signed up immediately!!

Believe it or not, the teacher's example was a "Tanka" (a challenge/threat)! After that, the two were taught the "Tanka" from 'Mabuta no Haha', and as a slightly advanced version, they were told to do that Tanka in the style of Ryo Taro Sugi. Then B-chan, who is a big fan of Sugi-sama, did it skillfully, and the teacher said: "You have quite a talent ♬"

Bonus: In February of my third year of junior high, I woke up at 3:00 AM to study for exams in the kitchen. About 20 minutes in, I heard someone running away at full speed from my garden to the front of the house. I was so shocked my heart almost stopped.
When I looked at the window on the garden side, it seemed I had forgotten to lock it, and it was half open.
It was the exact moment a burglar had opened the window and was about to break in:
Alarm clock rings => I wake up => Kitchen light turns on, I start studying, and it doesn't look like I'm going to sleep
=> If dawn broke, they would be discovered as a suspicious person => They waited for a chance to escape and ran at full speed. The garden is a 10-meter-high cliff, so escape from the garden side was impossible!
