Living by Your Own Standards, Not Comparing Yourself to Others [50s]
I do not compare myself to others.
That is my current way of thinking.
Thinking that you are superior, or that you are unluckier because of your circumstances, can temporarily protect your heart.
But at the same time,it stops your growth right there.
People's lives are not as simple as they appear from the outside.
There are always untold circumstances in the background.
Comparing yourself to others is inherently meaningless.
Thoughts begin to turn outward
The habit of comparing yourself to others is something you pick up without realizing it.
Someone else's achievements.
Someone else's hardships.
You try to use these as a yardstick to measure your own position.
But from that moment on, your thoughts begin to turn outward.
You end up using other people's lives as a benchmark instead of your own inner self.
"I am more fortunate."
"I am more unfortunate."
Whichever way it goes, there is no progress there.
Superiority turns into arrogance, and inferiority justifies stagnation.
Ignoring what you cannot see
You cannot understand a person's circumstances just by looking at the surface.
Behind their words lies an untold reality.
Sometimes, the people who talk and laugh the most are carrying something deep inside.
That is why comparing yourself to others is inherently inaccurate.
Ignoring what you cannot see and measuring life only by numbers and words.
That is akin to deceiving yourself.
"Reasons why I can't" and "Reasons why I won't"
People often list "reasons why they can't" do something.
I'm busy.
The environment is bad.
It's because of my age.
These circumstances certainly exist.
But many of these are also "reasons why I won't" do it.
You give yourself an excuse before you even try.
In most cases, you just aren't trying seriously.
At the very least, I try my best not to let that happen.

There is nowhere left to run
I realized this when I stopped comparing myself to others.
It doesn't make things easier.
In fact, there is nowhere left to run.
You cannot blame others.
You cannot blame your circumstances either.
All that remains is,what I will do today, and nothing more.
Trying to stay positive is different from being optimistic.
It is an attitude of facing reality head-on and moving forward anyway.
Honestly, I don't have the luxury to compare
With caregiving, work, and days that don't go as planned, I honestly don't have the luxury to compare myself to others.
Instead of comparing, I do what I can today.
That alone fills up the day.
Now that I'm in my 50s, I've finally come to understand.
Life is not a competition.
Neither rankings nor metrics of success are ever truly set in stone.
It is the toughest choice
That is why I stopped comparing myself to others.
If I have time to compare, I focus on getting my own house in order.
That is not about coddling myself.
In fact, it is the toughest choice.
Today, too, I will live my own day, not someone else's life.
That is fine.
It is all I can do.
To my readers: One move you can make today
Do notevaluate yourselfusing other people's situations as material.
Try reducing the number of 'reasons why I can't' by one.
Focus only on yourself today.
That alone will gradually make the habit of comparing fade away.
Human beings are not as simple as numbers can measure.
