I'm Kanta, a fifth grader. I was helping my dad and grandpa clean out their old storehouse.

We found a magnificent wooden box. There was something written on it. "Dad, what does this say?" "Hmm, let's see... it says, 'This is the toe shoe that makes the heart of one's beloved throb.' Simply put, I guess you could call them heart-throbbing toe shoes."

"What's that?" "According to your grandpa, if you wear these toe shoes, you'll fall in love with the person who touched them right before you did. I think it's just one of your grandpa's jokes, though."

"Dad, can I borrow these?"

"Sure, but you have to make sure to return them."

"Yeah, I got it."

The day after I brought the shoes home, after school, I put them in the shoe locker of Norika-chan, whom I love. I thought she'd wear them since she takes ballet lessons.

But the one who found them first was the class bully, the rowdy Takezo.

"What's this? I've never seen these shoes before. Kanta, try them on."

"No way."

"Come on. I'll put them on you."

He forced me to put them on.

I usually leave this project to Takkun and Harumin, but I thought I'd try writing something different for a change.

After finishing it, I felt a sense of déjà vu, though I don't have any specific memory of it.

I can't deny that while I was writing, the existence of a certain blue cat-shaped robot was in the corner of my mind 😅
