#9 Loosening up, a flat white, and my comfortable procrastination
1. A day of loosening up, feeling excited, and procrastinating
Today, my 6th day of leave, I went to an exercise class at 2:30 PM.
Since I just joined this month,
I participated in what felt like a prep class where we use balls and rollers to loosen up our bodies,
rather than doing muscle training!
Even though I was in agony with my stiff, swayback posture,
I felt refreshed afterward!
As I was leaving, the instructor said with a straight face,
"You should loosen up your spine with a ball,"
giving me advice in a serious tone,
and for a second, I was startled, thinking, "Oh no, does she not like me...? Did I do something?"
But I managed to brush it off, thinking, "Well, other people's moods are their own problem!"
After that, I bought some makeup items that were on my wishlist,
and went to a cafe I had newly discovered to get some work done.
With a "flat white" I ordered for the first time as my companion,
I focused and breezed through the prep work
for my marriage consultation meeting tomorrow!
I got home after 9 PM.
I procrastinated on the remaining tasks, thinking, "I'll just do them tomorrow~♪",
and had dinner with the side dish I bought yesterday.
I was able to enjoy the perfect night where I didn't have to do anything (^^)
2. Choosing my own comfort over someone else's mood
The biggest takeaway from today was
not letting myself be swayed by the instructor's attitude,
which seemed a bit grumpy.
The old me would have worried about it for a long time,
thinking, "Did I do something wrong?"
But other people's expressions and tones are (surely) not my fault,
and they are things I cannot control.
I stopped spending energy on that,
and by focusing on the excitement of shopping
and the deliciousness of the flat white,
I was able to keep my heart at peace.
I realized that the hint for maintaining my own good mood isn't in the reactions of those around me, but in
where I choose to focus my inner attention👏
3. Effortless point: A "basically two" schedule style with white space
Today's "effortless point" was
adopting a style of "no more than two important appointments a day, and the rest only if I have the energy to spare"
so as not to pack my schedule too tightly.
Because I had prepared dinner in advance, I didn't panic even when I got home at 9 PM,
and I gained the peace of mind to brush off the unfinished tasks without guilt,
thinking, "I'll just put these off until another day~♪"
Just by changing "I have to do this" to "I'll do it if I feel like it,"
the drain on my energy changes completely.
4. A comfortable baton to the me of tomorrow
Because there is "white space" from not packing my schedule,
I can encounter new drinks
and face my true feelings.
I'll enjoy taking a new step tomorrow, staying just as comfortable as I am now 🤗
