Design of Semi-Self-Checkout Registers at Major Supermarkets (Sequel)
My note often features articles that raise topics relevant to the daily lives of almost all readers 📖
First, I would appreciate it if you could take a look at the "Part 1" mentioned in the title 👇
~It is closely related to the content of this article
A semi-self-checkout system where the previous step (scanning) is done by a clerk, and the subsequent step (payment processing) is done by the customer at a machine.
The outline of the clever designs introduced was...
◆ Situations where people who are supposed to "breeze through with cashless" are held up by people in the "cash-handling, leisurely" line ahead of them do not occur.
◆ The downside is that if there is a possibility of waiting due to congestion or bottlenecks, a situation where "the other line is empty..." could occur, leading to a sense of disappointment or idle machines.
I stated this, and also focused on the point of【the installed machines being limited to only one function (~cost reduction?)】👀

It is clear at a glance that the design is very similar to the case/specifications in "Part 1" (p_-)

Cash accepted
As a cashless user, I do not go in this direction 🙅♂️
~(It's not about the "display not being prominent" or anything like that,) I almost headed toward this one, but suddenly realized and changed the machine I was using.
However, the requirements and nuances seemed to be a little different (◎_◎;)
It could be said that this is an example of the "high-context" theme I covered in the article I posted yesterday (the one before this) <link ishere>,an example of 'high-context' but can you deduce what the image above in this "Sequel" article: Register Number 4, actually means? 🤔🕵
As a hint, the keyword from "Part 1":
【The installed machines are limited to only one function】
How do you interpret the four characters
"Cash accepted"?
◆◈◆◈◆◈◆◈◆◈◆
Let's try converting 'Cash Accepted' into a low-context version as a model answer.
'Cash Accepted'
☞ 'Cash also accepted' In other words, ✕ 'Cash only accepted'
To put it another way,
☞ 'For customers paying with cash who are not using the cashless-only machines'
'Customers paying with cash can only use this machine'
It contains the gist of such messages, and I feel a nuance where cashless payment is already the baseline 😮
*In other words, as someone who uses barcode payment, I can use this machine too (as long as it's free) and don't need to go elsewhere.
The four characters 'Cash Accepted' can be interpreted in multiple ways—how far does the 'realization' of this fact reach? Is the 'common sense' assumption that 'it obviously means such-and-such' valid? Here is an opportunity to 'think a little' 🙋
