Low-carb and fasting both led to rebounds. As a woman in her 50s going through menopause, a research paper on 'soy' is about to change my life
Since entering menopause,
my body has become someone else's.
Even though my food intake hasn't changed, fat keeps accumulating around my midsection.
In the middle of the night, my body suddenly gets hot,
and I wake up drenched in sweat.
Even after waking up in the morning, my body feels sluggish,
and I have no motivation to do anything.
My skin is dry and flaky.
It's painful to look in the mirror.
Before I knew it,
I hadn't been able to step on a scale for years.
I was scared.
Scared of seeing the numbers.
I did everything I could
Calorie restriction.
Low-carb diets.
Fasting.
I tried every popular diet out there.
I'd lose a little in the first few weeks.
But it wouldn't last.
And then, the rebound.
I'd gain even more than before.
“Is my willpower too weak?”
“Is it just because I'm getting older?”
I thought things like that,
and blamed myself.
But recently,
I realized something.
The reason I couldn't lose weight no matter what I did after entering menopause
wasn't a matter of willpower.
My female hormones (estrogen) had dropped sharply,
and the way my body functions had fundamentally changed.
“Restrictive” diets
were actually counterproductive for a menopausal body.
The harder I tried,
the more my body tried to hold onto everything.
One research paper changed everything
One day, I found an overseas medical research paper.
It was a clinical trial from the U.S. called the “WAVS trial.”
(Barnard, 2021, published in the journal 'Menopause')
It involved postmenopausal women trying a specific dietary approach for about 3 months (12 weeks).
The core of that method was, soy.
No calorie restriction.
No exercise instructions either.
The key was incorporating soy into daily meals.
The results were as follows.
Moderate to severe hot flashes decreased by 84%
59% of participants were completely free from hot flashes
Weight also decreased (some lost 9kg in 12 weeks)
Improvements in sleep, mood, skin, and energy were also reported

What I couldn't achieve after years of “restriction”
might be achievable just by “adding” something.
And it's not just about dieting.
Menopausal weight gain, hot flashes, lethargy, and dry skin.
There is a possibility that all menopausal concerns can be improved.
When I read this paper, I felt it from the bottom of my heart.
I want to try this on my own body.
I am starting a 'Soy Reset'
I have given it a name:
Soy Reset.
Instead of 'restricting,' I will 'add.'
Instead of 'trying hard,' I will 'change.'

Resetting the body that has changed due to menopause with the power of soy.
That is what 'Soy Reset' is.
I plan to publish all the specific methods once the three-month experiment is over.
For three months, I will record everything
Today, I had a blood test.
I also stepped on the scale.
I took photos of my body as well.
Starting tomorrow, for three months,
I will record everything daily.
Things to record:
Changes in weight
Photos of soy-based meals
Frequency and intensity of hot flashes
Changes in lethargy and motivation
Skin condition
Things I noticed
I will publish everything here in real-time.
Both the good things and the things that don't go well.
I will have another blood test in three months and show the before-and-after results with the numbers.

How will my body change in three months?
Honestly, I have some anxiety.
Will it really change?
Will I fail again?
But this time, I have the evidence of a research paper.
And above all, because it is a method of 'adding' rather than 'restricting',
I feel like I can keep it up.
So that the me in three months
can tell the me of today, 'I'm glad I did it.'
Starting tomorrow, I will begin Day 1.
I will send free materials to those who comment 'soybeans'.
If you want to support me,
or if you want to face menopause together, please leave a comment.
I will update my daily records
on this note every week.
