How to be happy: 'Knowing what you dislike'
The title image is a flower called
the 'Dianthus'.
It is a very beautiful flower, but
its flower language includes 'I dislike you'.
I thought flower languages only had positive meanings, but it turns out there are meanings like this too.
Straight to the point, here is the main topic.
When people talk about how to be happy,
they say it is important to 'know what you like'.
Of course, that is very important.
But it is just as important to
'know what you dislike'.
An article I read recently
made me think about this again.
In that article,
a short conversation between a married couple was introduced.
One of them had something they would rather avoid, and
the other had something they were equally uncomfortable with.
And then, triggered by a single remark,
they were able to understand each other's feelings; that was the content.
It was a very small event, but
it had a perspective of gently accepting people's differences,
and it left an impression on me.

Just like in this article,
everyone has things they would rather avoid.
These aren't necessarily big things.
It could be crowds,
waking up early,
or a specific type of work.
For me, it's weeding.
It really varies from person to person.
What if you knew
what you disliked in advance?
You might be able to reduce the situations where you have to endure things unnecessarily.
You might even be able to change your environment a little.
Just by doing that,
daily stress can become surprisingly smaller.
And another important thing is
knowing what the people who influence you dislike.
The 'people who influence you' mentioned here
are not necessarily only your loved ones.
There are important people like family and partners, but
there are also people who affect your daily life and work,
such as bosses, colleagues, and business partners.
Much of our stress
is born from our interactions with these people.
If you know what the other person is uncomfortable with,
you can reduce the situations where you unconsciously corner them.
That doesn't just benefit the other person;
it also leads to reducing your own stress.
Human relationships
can become surprisingly easier
with just a little bit of understanding.
To be happy,
it is important to increase the things you like.
But just as much as that,
know what you dislike.
And, know what the people who influence you dislike.
Just by doing that,
life will likely become a little easier to live.
Thank you for reading until the end.
I hope to see you in another article.
🍀 May you be happy 🍀
