Queen Marika's Essays / No. 82: The Strongest Spin-off Work
Hello✨😃
Every Saturday is for essays😆
It's Marika🙇♀️
This time, I'm writing an article about something I remembered because of the comments section on this article⭐️
No. 82: The Strongest Spin-off Work
The comment I received said something like this.
There are books where I only read the side story. I recognize the side story and the main story as separate works
You read only the side story without reading the main story!?
At first, I was very surprised😲
But...
When I thought about it carefully, I had that experience too. The experience of only reading or watching a side story.
That work is quite famous, and I don't think there are many people who don't know it, right?
That work is...
Here it is😆
Ah.
So you only watched the movie version of "Kaiketsu Zorori".
It's not a story like that!
Truth be told...
The work "Kaiketsu Zorori" itself is actually a spin-off of another work😲
I only recently found out about this myself.
Zorori-sensei originally appeared as an enemy character to the protagonist in a work called "Hore-sore-so Man," and it seems "Kaiketsu Zorori" was positioned as a spin-off work that made the enemy character the protagonist.
If you compare it to "Anpanman," it's like a spin-off work being made where "Baikinman" is the protagonist.
The spin-off "Kaiketsu Zorori" ended up becoming more popular than the original "Hore-sore-so Man"😅
Don't you think that's amazing?
"Kaiketsu Zorori" has been adapted into a TV anime, and multiple theatrical films have been made as well.
In contrast, the original "Hore-sore-so Man" is...😅
The harshest part is that Hore-sore-so Man (Poi-Poi) doesn't even appear in "Kaiketsu Zorori".
So, Hore-sore-so Man hasn't just failed to get an anime adaptation, he's ended up in a state where his very existence is unknown😢
Is Zorori-sensei's popularity just that incredible, or is Hore-sore-so Man (Poi-Poi) just that pitiful...😵
It really makes you think.😖
It is not rare for a popular character to have enough momentum to overshadow the protagonist, but I feel there is probably no other spin-off that has become more major than the original series with enough popularity to effectively erase the protagonist.
I will conclude this entry while keenly feeling the greatness of Master Zorori.🙇♀️
