Yugawara, Roppo Falls | Mountain time spent not to solve worries, but to leave them behind
I headed to Roppo Falls in Yugawara while carrying worries that wouldn't leave my mind. There are things that have no answer no matter how much you think about them. Even when you try to forget, they remain in the corner of your mind. At such times, the mountains are not a place that gives you answers, but a place to temporarily 'let go' of what you are carrying. This is a record of my walk to Roppo Falls, deep in the mountains of Yugawara.
The path to Roppo Falls, deep in the mountains of Yugawara
There is something that has been sitting in my mind for a long time.
It's not that there is a solution. It's just there.
When that happens, I decide to head into the mountains.
I'm not going to look for answers. I'm just going to walk.

Roppo Falls finally reveals itself
Roppo Falls is located deep in the mountains of Yugawara.
Multiple streams of water slide down, tracing the columnar joint rock face. It doesn't have the dynamic power of a waterfall that drops all at once. However, it flows quietly and continuously, splitting along the rocks.

The path to get here is not easy.
Steep slopes continue, and the footing is unstable. Fallen trees, so many that the path disappears, are piled up, blocking the way. I step over them. I crawl under them. I climb over them as if crawling.
During that time, I can't think about unnecessary things.
My body pulls me back to the present.
That is precisely why there are few people, and the surroundings are surprisingly quiet.
The sound of the waterfall pushes away the voices in my head

When I arrived in front of the waterfall, the sound was the first thing that rushed in.
A roaring sound, without hesitation. The moment it filled my ears, the voices in my head moved a little further away.
Fine mist touches my skin. As if peeling away the heat, layer by layer.
I sat down and drank coffee. The bitterness remained at the back of my tongue. The roaring sound, the coldness of the mist, and the heat of the coffee were all there at the same time. Before I knew it, I wasn't thinking about anything.
It wasn't that it was solved. I didn't find an answer, nor did I talk to anyone. It was just that that weight—had gone somewhere.
Even if worries aren't solved, you can leave them behind

Perhaps you don't have to solve your entanglements.
You can just bring them here and leave them behind.
The rushing sound will take them on for a while.
It's not an easy place to reach.
That is why I think this silence is preserved.
It's a place I don't really want to tell anyone about.
But if there is someone out there carrying something right now,
I hope you will walk here someday.

❄️ Conclusion | Where is the place where you felt, "I love this time of doing nothing so much"?
If you read this article and
"going to the mountains clears my head a little,"
if there is anyone who has had that experience, please let me know.
For you,
where is the place where you can spend time doing nothing?
I previously wrote about "knowing the speed of walking" in another article.
In the mountains, there are moments when you regain your own rhythm rather than speed.
If you'd like, please take a look at that as well.
