Thinking about KPIs for Jibun Inc. — Toward Practicing 'Well-being Management'
Hello. How are you doing?
Over the past two installments, while touching on the values of 'Small Giants,' we have considered the management policies of Jibun Inc. and the nature of 'relational capital' in life.
In the first installment, from the perspective of 'meaningful management,' we re-examined what is truly important to one's own life, and in the second, we reflected on the quality of relationships, asking, 'With whom and how do I want to live?'
And now, in this third installment, as a way to translate that vision into daily actions, I would like to think about KPIs (Self-Management Indicators) for Jibun Inc.
The theme is 'Practicing Well-being Management.' It is an attempt to find, in one's own words, the indicators that support a 'healthy and satisfying way of life' for oneself.
Why does Jibun Inc. need KPIs?
Just as companies use KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to execute strategy, I feel that Jibun Inc. also needs a fixed-point observation tool to realize a 'way of life that is true to oneself and satisfying.'
Especially when you feel like you are being swept away by the busyness of daily life or changes in your environment, it is important to take time to confirm, 'Am I living according to my own axis?'
KPIs are not for competing on results, but are a small light to notice your own daily 'deviations' and 'fluctuations'. I use them as clues to walk healthily and comfortably, relying on that light.
Three KPIs I want to cherish in my own way
✅ 1. Mind and Body Wellness Score
To live happily, it is very important to be healthy in both mind and body. I practice the following items as indicators for that purpose.
Utilizing an Apple Watch and stress check apps to check sleep quality and stress indices daily.
Sharing data with ChatGPT every morning to discuss how to spend the day. (Getting advice so as not to overdo it.)
Prioritizing '7 hours of sleep' above all else, even on days when routines are easily disrupted, such as overseas business trips, travel, or drinking parties.
Occasionally sharing muscle training and exercise habits, body composition data, and meal contents with ChatGPT to receive and implement advice for maintaining a healthy body.
Furthermore, I record 'actions that lead to well-being' (muscle training, walking, gratitude, kindness, stretching, etc.) in my 'Jibun-jiku' (Self-Axis) planner and reflect on them using ◎, ○, and △.
At night, I record '3 Good Things' in my 5-year diary. I re-examine whether I was 'honest with my heart and body' through daily dialogue.

✅ ② Number and duration of meaningful connections
How many people did you exchange 'thank yous' with this past week?
How many acts of kindness were you able to perform?
Record the time spent with loved ones in your planner.
Were you able to have 'emotionally engaged interactions' with family, friends, or colleagues?
How many days did you 'laugh from the heart'? Record it in your diary.
Relationships you can recall are the proof of relationship capital.
Don't hesitate to send a message to those you want to contact. Recording things has the power to change your actions.
📘 Visualizing daily resource allocation with the 'Jibun-Jiku Planner' for the past year
Referring to the '100-Year Calendar,' I color-code my time into the following six areas to visualize where I am investing my energy.
Output (work, housework, childcare, etc.)
Mother Earth (family, human relationships)
Belongings (money, possessions)
Tool (body, health)
Input (learning, study)
New World (hobbies, unknown worlds)
I try to ensure I spend plenty of time on 'Mother Earth,' which involves being with loved ones.
✅ ③ Self-satisfaction score
Did you feel a sense of 'being yourself' in today's actions?
Were your actions 'chosen' by you, rather than 'forced' upon you?
Were there moments when you used your time intentionally?
Can you say, 'I lived my own life today'?
By recording and color-coding your daily actions across the six areas mentioned above and reviewing them on a weekly basis,
it becomes immediately clear whether you are spending your time on what you truly want to do.
Also, occasionally check your healthy life expectancy and other metrics using the Life Clock app.
By being conscious of the time you have left, you reaffirm the weight of 'this day'.
Summary: 'Awareness Indicators' that Support Well-being Management
The KPIs at Jibun Inc. are not meant to measure results with numbers.
They are like
when you are caught up in the busyness of life and feel that 'something is off'
when you are feeling down for no reason
or when you feel like you are losing sight of your true self
a gentle 'awareness lamp' that lights up.
In my case, I set aside 5 to 10 minutes before bed as 'time for dialogue with myself',
where I reflect on my physical and mental state for the day, my interactions with others, and my sense of fulfillment.
It is also a small ritual to restore myself amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Without losing sight of who I am, while carefully and comfortably building up each day,
learning and supporting each other with family and friends, and contributing to society—
That is the kind of life I want to manage.
Thank you once again for reading until the end.
Next time, I will delve into 'managing Jibun Inc.' from a new perspective.
