Before searching for the 'meaning of work,' just take action. What CAN!P really wants to convey to the 20s and 30s who are drawn to our ideals.
Hello, this is Morimoto from CAN!P.
Thanks to everyone, the number of entries for CAN!P has been gradually increasing recently.
I believe that this note we are publishing is reaching someone who is about to take a new step, and I want to continue writing and accumulating these thoughts steadily.
Now, as the number of entries increases, I feel that the age group of applicants is very much in the early 20s to early 30s. This time, I would like to write honestly about what I personally feel in real-time while talking with these talented young people in casual interviews, and about the 'pieces that CAN!P is currently looking for.'
Everyone is looking for meaning and roles
At CAN!P, we always conduct a 'casual interview' as the very first step of the selection process.
Rather than the company evaluating (sizing up) the applicant, we consider this a place for applicants to determine if CAN!P is truly an organization worth staking their life on to proceed with the selection process.
At the same time, it is also a valuable time for us to confirm that there is no gap between what we are both looking for by talking directly about the reality of our activities.
In doing so, what I strongly feel when talking with people in their 20s and early 30s is thateveryone is strongly seeking 'the meaning of working here' or 'a role that only I can fulfill'that is what it is.
It is not that there is a definitive dissatisfaction or black-company element in their current environment.
However, they feel a sense of 'stagnation' regarding organizational walls or routine work, or they are desperately looking for 'something' into which they can pour their passion more than they do now.
In such somewhat unsatisfying days, I have the impression that many people encounter the field of 'education' as one of the targets for their passion, and knock on our door because they resonate with CAN!P's vision.
Precisely because it is an era where ways of working and living are so diversified, and the nature of intellectual production is changing due to the rapid evolution of AI, I am convinced that our work, which necessarily involves 'physicality' and 'person-to-person' interaction, will become increasingly indispensable for those who seek 'meaning and roles in work.'
Action comes first, meaning and roles follow later
However, I must also convey a harsh reality here.Even if you only think about 'meaning' and 'roles' in your head, real work will not move forward even by a millimeterthat is what it is.
The worry of 'wanting to become someone' or 'not knowing what I am suited for' is very natural for people in their 20s and 30s.
I think I myself, who is writing this, also worried a lot until I came to my current workplace in my late 20s.
However, these will never be solved no matter how much you worry at your desk. That is because they are 'questions that have no answer even if you think about them.'
There is often a debate in the business world about 'whether quantity or quality is more important,' but this also has the cruel truth that 'you can never reach the realm of quality unless you do an overwhelming amount of quantity.'
Before meaning and roles, there is always 'action.'
If you take action, 'results (success or failure)' will always occur there.
The accumulation of these results becomes 'experience,' and it expands the choices in your life.
As a result, the accumulation of those actions will turn into a sense of conviction called 'meaning of work' or 'role' when you look back later.
That is precisely why one of the types of talent CAN!P is currently looking for is 'someone who can take action first, no matter what.'
Instead of stopping and calculating, 'If I do this, what meaning will it have for my career?' or 'Is this my role?', you should first try doing what you are asked or what you notice for the sake of the children in front of you and for the team. That instantaneous power is a weapon more precious than anything else.
Can you perceive changing your mind as a 'chance'?
Perhaps because the gravity of the vision CAN!P upholds (creating a society filled with people who can make choices and decisions of their own will) is strong, we often receive applications from people who hold wonderful ideals and hopes, and we are truly grateful for that in itself.
It is a moment that gives us the courage to believe that the direction of education we aim for is not wrong.
However, if we look at the reality on the ground, we are still a small venture company with only a few employees.
Situations where decisions made yesterday are completely reversed today because a better idea emerged, or making course corrections while on the move, are everyday occurrences.
Unlike large corporations, we do not have perfect manuals or training systems fully prepared from the start.
With limited resources, there are many situations where we have no choice but tothink for ourselves about 'how we can manage to make it work'and execute it in a gritty, hands-on way to move forward.
However, looking at it another way, because we are in this 'unfinished phase,' the scope of each individual's discretion can be expanded as far as you want to take it.Precisely because there are no manuals, the first step you take becomes the company's new system and becomes part of the organization's lifeblood.
We want to turn the 'time spent worrying to find meaning' into 'action to change the world right in front of you.'
We look forward to speaking with you in a casual interview if you have that kind of passionate resolve. First, please tell us what you 'want to try.'
