May 2024 Review
Accomplishments
I made it a habit to do facial yoga little by little during my commute by car.
I took care of a chick born with a disability with all my heart until its life came to an end.
I was able to properly explain the work I have been doing to my superiors at the office.
I went to the middle school volunteer work and the sports day. Good job to me for properly giving up my spot to other parents after my child's turn was over at the sports day.
A local friend came to visit, and I was able to welcome them properly. I managed to get my children, who have a fear of heights, to climb to the top of the rope climbing structure!
I was able to offer advice to a friend whose child is refusing to go to school.
I restarted Audible, lured by the 99 yen/month for two months offer. I listened to "Yellow House", "Spinoza's Consulting Room", "Sapphire", "Mastery Theory: People Can Learn and Grow Forever", "Somebody", "I'm Alive No Matter What", and "How to Live: Talking About Tough Times and 22 Things Needed to Live Like Yourself".
Finished reading the book club book "Emotions Hijack the Brain Immediately".
Things I couldn't do
Mercari listings (← I kept saying I would do it this month too, but I didn't. I'm really fed up with myself now.)
I can't finish reading "The Law of Chaos that Creates Inspiration".... I didn't read a single page in May.
I haven't even touched "Cultural Anthropology to Survive the Coming Era".
I was having a book club with my boss on "Reading the Heart Sutra through Consciousness-Only", but it's stalled because my boss is too busy.
I can't finish reading "The Textbook of Natural Leadership". It's different from what I expected, and it's a bit hard to read.
Things I continued
Participated in the Meaning Note community
Participated in a book club
Updated note
Podcast "COTEN RADIO", "Tonari no Zatsudan", "Over The Sun"
Things I let go of
I used to agonize over my shortcomings (weaknesses?), but I stopped worrying about things I cannot change. I was simply admiring a colleague who is personable and reliable.
Replaced old chopsticks and bowls. I made sure to let go of the old ones.
Learnings and insights
Thinking ahead and anticipating can sometimes be a disadvantage. In communication, have the composure to observe how the other person reacts.
Let's re-encounter people I have already met. Let's increase communication.
Careless remarks are a disadvantage. Do not think that only your own world is the truth, and do not speak without thinking.
My stubbornness can be a strength or a weakness depending on the environment.
It's not that I "don't have time," it's just that "my schedule is packed and I'm not managing it well" (By To you in room 202 - from M)
Preparation is important. Things change depending on how you prepare. The same applies to human relationships.
Don't miss the moment! When you feel moved, make sure to record it.
Speed up actions based on interest. With a spirit of "nothing to lose, try many things and something will hit."
Act immediately when you think of something. Choose to regret doing it rather than regret not doing it.
About myself
I like improvisation. I like seeing people's hearts move.
It is in my nature not to be able to leave things alone.
I want to be the kind of person who can afford to pay for a craftsman's skills.
I have a habit of unconsciously comparing myself to others (I feel like I wrote 'don't compare yourself to others' about once a week in May).
Things I want / Things I'm interested in
Learning about money
Fukatsu Sensu-ten folding fan
Bamboo steamer
AND MEDICAL's KURA SEAT
Things I want to work hard on next month
Take notes immediately
Write in my notebook (I haven't been able to lately)
Put boards on the ceiling of my room
Decluttering (Mercari. Seriously, just do it already)
Things I want to let go of
Excessive input (I canceled Audible!)
Gaming time
I want to reduce the number of items related to my children's memories
Books
General Review
In May, there were events like sports day and local friends coming to visit, I did some physical labor at work that was different from my usual routine, and I was busy taking care of unexpected chicks. My mind felt busy, and in the second half of the month after everything was over, I felt burned out and the time I spent writing in my notebook decreased drastically.
When I can no longer write notes, my quality of life suddenly drops as well...
Gardening work has also gone into full swing, and as weeding and watering take up more time, the time I have to write notes has decreased drastically.
Just looking at my schedule for June is already making me feel overwhelmed, so I intend to manage my time to keep my mental health in check and, above all, avoid disrupting my rhythm.
The book for the June reading group is "Should I Eat This Pudding Now or Wait? The Law of Time That Lasts a Lifetime", so I want to be mindful of how I spend my time and increase the moments where I feel happy every day.
