(Self-Introduction) The reason why I, who “never lived by music,” have “lived with music”

Nice to meet you, I'm "Batasato," a lover of music and excitement!

I am not a professional musician. But before I knew it, I had been living with music all along.
I'd like to share my journey so far as a self-introduction!

(I got a bit carried away and it ended up over 2000 characters, so please take your time reading it~)

・Birth

Born and raised in Tokyo.

Born as a scrawny boy.

・Elementary School Days

The Famicom boom arrived, and I spent my days as a Famicom kid, clutching a controller in front of a CRT monitor while listening to chiptunes.
The Super Famicom was released, and I nurtured my imagination through its more expressive sound.

I awakened to music through the rock band "Unicorn," which I heard through a friend.

・Junior High School Days

I unearthed an acoustic guitar from my parents' closet.

I was blown away by my father's performance of "Romanza." I tried to copy pop songs from a songbook, but
I couldn't play the F chord and gave up.I spent my days recording late-night music TV shows and gathering music-related information from the library's CD section.
I was shocked by the "Metallica" music video I saw without any prior knowledge, and I watched it repeatedly until the videotape wore out.

I got hooked on the charm of arcades and spent all my time there with friends.
I became captivated by the powerful sound of Neo Geo.
I found my life's calling in "Fatal Fury Special" and "Samurai Shodown."
The Sega Saturn was released, and I was fascinated by the distinctive sound effects of "Virtua Fighter" (such as the high-pitched metallic sound when landing a clean hit).

・High School Days

I was in the brass band, participated in national competitions, and won a gold medal.

Because it's big and stands out—that was my reason for choosing the contrabass (?).
Amidst days spent in grueling practice that was mocked as being "like the military"
(it was so thorough that if you weren't in tune before the ensemble, you'd be kicked out of the music room entirely),
I admired the coolness of the older students who took everything seriously, learned the importance of teamwork, and experienced the joy of playing in an ensemble with many people.

・Vocational School Days

Interested in Western music, I enrolled in a translation vocational school. I didn't fit in with the social environment and dropped out.
While working part-time jobs, I started composing music on my own.

I used a 4-track MTR with sheet music in hand.

I wanted to play the contrabass, so I bought a Yamaha "Silent Bass," but I sold it due to space constraints.

I was captivated by "Kotaro Oshio," whom a friend recommended, and rediscovered the fun of instrumental music.
I began listening deeply to music that crossed genres, such as "Andy McKee," "toe," and "jizue."

Discovering the joy of karaoke.
Utilizing the abdominal breathing cultivated during my time in the brass band,
I enjoy the feeling of being a rock band vocalist.
I frequently hold "one-man album recreation live shows" where I sing Unicorn songs in album order.
I discover the joy of listening to hidden gems by famous bands through my friends' song selections.

・Early working life:

I went to Hello Work to acquire a professional skill. I became an IT corporate warrior.

Not satisfied with home recording alone, I began interacting on mixi (!).

Joined a band of volunteers, playing bass.

I enjoyed the stimulating studio rehearsals with members from the session scene, and the fun of exchanging opinions and polishing the original songs we each brought in.
Although I spent my days busy with activities at live houses in Tokyo,
I quit the band due to the combination of my main job becoming busier and the mental strain caused by my poor ability to open up to others.

・Mid-career working life:

The iPhone boom arrived, and I became devoted to composing music using GarageBand.

Captivated by its ease of use,
I used it heavily both at home and when out,
and repeatedly posted to YouTube.

I hit it off with a woman who loved karaoke, whom I met through a band friend,
and proposed after a few dates.
(The deciding factor was when she made a joke about a fish plushie at the aquarium souvenir corner,
acting like it was fresh and lively.
I thought that with this person, I could laugh and overcome anything together.)
Started married life, taking on the role of husband.

・Late working life:

Switched to iPad, became captivated by and devoted to KORG Gadget.

Captivated by the cool sounds of the iPad composition app "KORG Gadget",
I used it heavily.

Longing for Western music and wanting to hear native English,
I enjoyed playing the PC game "Risk of Rain 2" with foreigners.
(I couldn't understand the Canadian-accented English at all, but
communicating through words while guessing from the gameplay situation was
a very fun time.)

The COVID boom arrived, and although I was forced to stay home for two weeks,
I used that time to re-study all 30 (at the time) Unicorn video works
to deepen my understanding.
(I am very grateful that, because they have reunited now,
I was able to listen to the secret stories of their breakup at the time calmly.)

Overcoming several crises of breaking up with my wife, every day is an everyday.

・Present

I continue to compose music as a life's work,
posting songs to YouTube, with about 280 songs uploaded so far.
Reached 150 channel subscribers.

Distributing music on various streaming services.

Driven by ideas, I am actively engaged in various online activities.

  • TikTok: (January 2025) Achieved 40 consecutive days of posting.

  • X: Posting with the theme of "things that excite me."
(Started in January 2025) Reached 800 followers.

    : Conducted outdoor composition streams.

(From June 2025) Reached 500 followers in 3 months since starting.

  • Music production event "Zero-Kara Compi":
(March 2025) Submitted my own song, and
listened to all 150+ submitted songs & sent feedback comments.
(Deeply impressed by the songs and the attitude of those who take music seriously, regardless of whether they are pros or amateurs)

    and so on.

・Future Outlook

I want to keep holding onto the excitement I felt as a child.

I want to continue shaping it through music and writing at any time.
That is the spirit with which I want to continue my activities!

That is all.
Thank you for reading until the end!

If you love music, have memories associated with game music,
or think we might be from the same generation, please let's be friends.
I would be happy if you could leave a like or a comment.
I look forward to connecting with you.
