Zen Mind and Midnight JAZZ: 'Blue Wave, Twin Moons (Soha Sogetsu)'

🫷 My Work Introduction: JAZZ
Today's Theme: Blue Wave, Twin Moons (Soha Sogetsu)
If I were to dare to define the meaning,
upon blue waves,
two moons float quietly.
Though they seem divided,
they are one world.
🫷 Blue Wave, Twin Moons (Soha Sogetsu)
The night sea does not make a sound.
Even though the waves are constantly swaying,
when viewed from afar, it looks as if it is just breathing quietly.
Blue Wave, Twin Moons.
A scene where two moons float upon blue waves.
One is in the sky.
The other is on the water's surface.
Though they are the same light,
they do not touch, they do not mix,
and yet they are inseparably bound.
Midnight JAZZ resembles this relationship.
The piano sound is the moon in the sky.
The bass's low notes are the moon on the water's surface.
Melody and silence, keeping their distance while nestling close.
Our hearts, too, hold two moons.
The self that wants to be strong,
and the self that knows its own weakness.
The light that moves forward,
and the shadow that stands still.
The more you try to erase one,
the rougher the waves become.
When you let both float there,
the sea finds its balance.
Blue Wave, Twin Moons is not about resolving conflict,
but the courage to let them exist side by side.
This JAZZ does not
organize emotions.
It does not close the distance too much.
It does not say, 'Let us become one.'
It simply
exists together while swaying.
Just as waves come in and go out,
the sound also fills and recedes.
In that repetition,
we gradually begin to unravel.

Original JAZZ Lyrics
The waves do not
sleep,
the night does not
close its eyes
A blue stillness
spreads through my chest
Two moons,
like they are snuggling close,
but
never touching
You and I,
though we are similar,
we are not the same
The piano
brushes the water's surface,
the bass
sinks deep
Just swaying,
that alone
makes for a peaceful night
Words
melt into the waves,
losing their shape
Both sadness
and kindness
are in the same blue
Blue Waves, Twin Moons,
there is one light,
and one shadow
Even while apart,
we are full
Even when morning comes,
don't rush,
I want to hold onto
this stillness
a little longer
While swaying,
I am becoming centered,
like the ocean,
so am I
If, while listening to this JAZZ,
two emotions arise in your heart at the same time,
that is not a contradiction.
That is as natural as the sea.
Blue Waves, Twin Moons.
Seemingly apart, yet the same light.
Seemingly swaying, yet one flow.
When morning comes,
the world with clear outlines will return.
But for now,
on the waves,
it is fine to let two moons float.
Without erasing either,
without rushing either,
simply swaying.
Within that quiet swaying,
you are already centered.
No conclusion is needed.
Tonight, just stay blue.
