I created 'Philosophical Art' that changes with a tap — A Quiet Luxury experiment

Recently, I created a light-based work that changes when you touch it.

Quiet particles and a single core of light appear on your smartphone screen.
By tapping or dragging, their relationship changes little by little.

It is not a work with a fixed meaning.
Rather, I hope it is completed within the senses of the person who touches it.

It is currently available for free.
For now, I am leaving it there as an experience.

Why I created 'Touching Light'

When I create paintings or art terrariums,
there is something I always feel.

There is a certain distance in art that is only for viewing.
But humans originally understand the world by touching it.

Tactile sensation, time, breathing, and negative space.
Can't art get closer to those things?
This work is an extension of that idea.

Not 'viewing,' but
'art that builds a relationship'

That is the theme of this work.

The concept of Quiet Luxury

There is no flashiness in this work.
In fact, I am keeping it as quiet as possible.

I kept the movement of the particles and the changes in light
at a level that is only slightly noticeable.

The term 'Quiet Luxury' is often used these days.
It is not about ostentatious wealth,
but about a richness felt in silence.

As a form of philosophical art, I believe this sensation is very important.

Because sometimes, a collection of small experiences
leaves a deeper impression than a grand meaning.

About the motif of the core of light

I have not defined what the light in the center symbolizes.

It could be life,
it could be consciousness,
or it could simply be light.

However, it changes little by little depending on how you touch it.

I believe that one's own state of mind and sense of distance from the world
might be unconsciously reflected here.

People think they are manipulating something,
but in reality, they are sometimes looking at their own inner selves.

Perhaps this work is closer to a mirror in that sense.

About the choice to release it for free

This time, instead of selling it or making it exclusive,
I decided to release it for free first.

The reason is simple.

It is because I do not think it is in its final form yet.
And because I feel that this type of art
grows through the sharing of experiences.

I want you to touch it,
and I want to know how it made you feel.

I believe that process itself is part of the work.

Finally,

if even just a little bit,

・you felt like time slowed down
・you were drawn to it for no particular reason
