The 'Truth-Telling Group' was what started me hosting events in London 🇬🇧

I have written before about how I used to run an English conversation school (Cherry School). (April 2011 – March 2015)

Around this time, I realized that the way the world works is strange, and I was looking for friends I could talk to about it.

I formed the 'Truth-Telling Group' (a super suspicious name 😅) and recruited members on a bulletin board for Japanese people living in London.

A Japanese man contacted me, and the three of us, including David, met at a pub. Although there were things we agreed on, we didn't really click, so we never met again, and the group's activities were put on hold.

After a while, a Japanese woman named T contacted me saying she was interested in the 'Truth-Telling Group' and also wanted private English lessons, so we decided to meet at a coffee shop in London.

I hit it off immediately with T, who was the same age and had the same sensibilities, and we gradually became closer as she started showing up for group lessons too.

"Mika, I'm planning a screening of the movie 'Cherry' with my friend '1/4 Miracle'. Would you like to join us?"

When T said that, I felt a connection to the name Cherry and readily agreed!

The three of us launched an event company called 'Cherry Lifestyle', and our first event in June 2015 was the 'Life-Changing Tidying Seminar' by Yasushi Komatsu, a tidying expert and junior colleague of Cherry's.

Soon after, T left, and Cherry decided to return to Japan for good, so for some reason, I ended up hosting various movie screenings all by myself 🤣

I'm connected with Cherry on Instagram now, but we haven't met in person.

I meet with the tidying expert Mr. Komatsu and his wife every time I return to Japan. Yes, that's the person I stood up last time 😅

Human encounters and connections are truly mysterious 🦹‍♀️

The movie 'A Path Will Be Made Behind Me' 🎥

The director of this movie, Yasuko Iwasaki, and her husband (Takahiro Tanaka, who was working at the Sasaki Farm, famous for its 'Arigato' farming method in Hokkaido at the time) visited the UK on their honeymoon 🇬🇧

The two stayed at my home, and we even managed to have the director give a greeting at the screening✨

The water I received as a souvenir at this time, 'Tsuki no Shizuku,' led me to discover 'Yunosato'.

Recently, the couple has been working on the documentary film 'Sowing Seeds, Watering Them, and Natural Farming Party'.

Dr. Kazuo Murakami, who passed away in April 2021 at the age of 85😭

Due to budget constraints, the film directors and cast members visiting the UK always stay at my home🏠

David often gets angry at me, saying, 'Our home is not a guesthouse'😓
Even so, I could never thank him enough for how hard he tried to make them happy while spending time with our guests.

🌈Director Tetsu Shiratori's 'Revival' in Fukuoka🎥

This film was supposed to be screened in London on March 11, 2016, alongside 'Prayer'🎥,

but because the distributor entered it into an international film festival competition, screenings abroad were put on hold, and I had to give it up with tears in my eyes.

'I want to screen this film on March 11, the day of the Great East Japan Earthquake'

That feeling has remained unchanged...

'If I want to watch it while I'm back in Japan temporarily, I have no choice but to organize it myself!'

I reached out to the owner of an enzyme bath in Fukuoka that uses EM bacteria, co-hosted a screening, miraculously found a venue, nearly filled the capacity, and it was a huge success!

It was a screening where I felt the support of the bacteria.

Katsuko Yamamoto, who lives in Ishikawa Prefecture, known as "Kakko-chan", owns a forest 🌳
It is called "Mona's Forest"

The movie "Forest of Happiness", directed by Kakko-chan,
is currently being held through independent screenings nationwide 🎥

So, I have hosted many movie screenings, but now I am busy with other things and no longer have the capacity for that.

Even so, it is certain that the screenings led to many encounters and have connected me to who I am today...

Tomorrow, I will introduce a recommended Japanese movie that will be screened in London on December 1st!
