10 Camping Gear Items I'm Glad I Bought | Chairs and Floor Chairs

This is the 10th week of my 'Camping Gear I'm Glad I Bought' series.

Last time, we talked about power-related gear.

This time, we're talking about 'chairs,' which greatly influence camping comfort.

Because you sit in them for long periods, I use different ones depending on the situation.

In this post, I'll introduce two types: the low chair I use as my main seat, and the floor chair type that comes in handy for indoor-style camping or sitting by the fire.

My Main Companion | Hilander Climax Low Chair 2

This is the chair I spend the most time sitting in while camping.

Its biggest appeal is the curved shape of the armrests.

The moment you rest your elbows on them, they fit your body perfectly.

The reclining is adjustable, and it's easy to operate by simply lifting the arms and sliding them forward or backward. It's convenient to be able to change the angle to suit the situation, whether you want to sit and look at the scenery or take a short nap.

The fabric is cotton, and it has sufficient cushioning thanks to the quilting and built-in urethane. It doesn't feel cold even in autumn and winter, so it can be used all year round.

Because it has a steel frame, it has a solid load capacity of 130kg, but it is a bit heavy at about 5.3kg. It's not suitable for solo trips where you want to travel light, but it's not a problem for auto-camping where you go by car.

My Companion for Indoor Camping & Fire Pits | DOD Zashiki Sofa Half

This is a floor-chair type seat that I use for indoor-style camping or when sitting in front of a bonfire.

It has a 2-way design that can be used as a sofa or a floor cushion, and the backrest angle can be adjusted to 3 levels. Since you can sit back and relax from a low perspective, you are closer to the ground, which also brings you much closer to the bonfire.

The seat fabric is water-repellent, and the floor side uses a waterproof material with a water pressure resistance of 2,000mm, so it's a great point that I don't have to worry about ground moisture or spilling drinks.

The total weight is a light 4.0kg, and the storage size is compact. Since it can be carried with one hand, I don't have to worry about a slight increase or decrease in luggage.

If the Hilander low chair is my partner for "active time," then this one is my partner for "quiet time." Since their roles are clearly defined, having both is not a waste.

For chairs, too, it's about "using them for different purposes" rather than capacity.

It leads to the same conclusion as the previous talk about power sources, but "using them for different purposes" was indeed the right answer for chairs as well.

For the main time spent sitting, I use the Hilander low chair that can recline.

For times when I want to relax in front of a bonfire or while staying inside, I use the DOD Zashiki Sofa Half, which allows for a lower perspective.

Having these two chairs has allowed me to choose the seating comfort that suits whatever way I want to spend my time while camping.
