Weight Loss Edition
The story of how I lost 18kg starting from 155cm and the 60kg range
"I'm gaining weight even though I'm not eating that much."
That is something I used to think about all the time.
After I started working, my weight kept increasing rapidly, reaching the 60kg range despite being 155cm tall.
My job keeps me very active, so I genuinely wondered, "Why?"
I love fashion, but I kept choosing clothes that would hide my hips...
Looking back now, I think I had lost a lot of confidence back then.
While I eventually lost 18kg, there is one habit that I feel was the most effective.
That is,
drinking green juice (aojiru) before meals.
It might sound like, "Wait, that's it?" but
this really worked for me.
(However, after changing jobs, I also started a 40-minute round-trip bike commute! I think that might account for about 5kg of the weight loss.)
But the first time I felt like "the weight loss switch had been flipped" was definitely after I started changing the order in which I ate my food.
What I focused on was "not letting my blood sugar spike."
It wasn't because I had expert knowledge; it was purely a hunch.
But,
* Green juice before meals
* Eating vegetables first
* Eating soup or tofu first
Once I made this routine a habit, my body changed significantly.
Conversely, as long as I followed these steps, it was okay to eat some of the things I liked!
It's similar to what's known as "veggie-first."
By the way, I didn't worry too much about "eating in a balanced way" (sankaku-tabe),
I just focused on "putting healthy things in first."
It wasn't all about deprivation.
This was also a big factor.
I had this image of dieting as
"banning all the things you love!" but I wasn't that strict.
I eat McDonald's, and I eat snacks.
Not every day, but I enjoy them normally.
Maybe that's why I was able to keep it up.
And for those of you who find making green juice a hassle (lol)
Green juice comes in powder form, but
I'm the type who finds even "making it" a hassle, so I bought the pre-made drink type from the start.
When you try to "do your best for your health,"
if the preparation is a hassle, you won't keep it up...
So,
I chose a method that I could continue as easily as possible.
Finally,
lately, diet drugs and the like are a hot topic, but
personally, I think it is definitely worth trying
"a way of eating that doesn't spike blood sugar" first.
Of course, it depends on your body type,
and you need to be careful not to drink too much green juice, so please look into that and do it without overdoing it.
But if there is someone out there like my old self who feels:
* I feel like I'm gaining weight even though I'm not eating
* I can't stick to a diet
* It's painful because it's all about deprivation
If you are that person,
I want you to try starting by just changing the "order in which you eat."
