[1-Minute Summary] A message I want to quietly share with creative accounts struggling because they aren't being read, from a published author | Publishing Log (#webnovel #creativewriting #essay #notbeingread)
Hello. Good evening.
My name is "Ura-Byoshi," and I usually write light novels.
You wrote it with all your heart, but there's no reaction.
You don't get any "likes."
It feels like no one is reading it.
At times like that,
"Maybe I lack sensitivity."
"Maybe it would be different if I had more talent."
We tend toblame ourselves.
I've been there many times, too.
So, I understand that pain well.
But to get straight to the point, the reason your work isn't being read isn't necessarily because you lack talent or sensitivity.
No matter how good a work is,if it isn't discovered first, its charm won't be conveyed.
That is why what's important isthe gateway that connects the reader to the work.
It's about the "effort to be found," such as your profile or title.
It's not just my own experience that led me to think this way.
While watching many people continue to create, I have felt a certain common"wastefulness" time and time again.
The more people convince themselves that the reason they aren't being read is a matter of sensitivity and blame themselves, the more there is actually room for improvement elsewhere.
I've written about that in a bit more depth.

Afterword:
When reposting a work that had gained over 7,000 PV on Narou to Kakuyomu, I once saw a post by someone who experimented to see how much it would be read by intentionally not adding a long title or work description, and only setting the catchphrase required by the system. The result was thatdespite posting three chapters a day for a week and leaving it, it had 0 PV.I also post novels myself and constantly feel that now, when works are so saturated, the "packaging" is just as important, if not more so, as the minimum requirement for getting people interested in your work.
