【First Attempt Using Only a Smartphone】I Tried Making a 'Like' Video for note with Pollo AI | From Beginner Registration to Completion

I used Pollo AI for the first time.

This was to participate in the '2nd Like Video Contest: Summer Campaign' hosted by Naoyuki-san.

What I wanted to make was a roughly 5-second thank-you video that appears to those who click 'Like' on note.

Furthermore, this time I challenged myself using only my Android smartphone, without using a PC.

In conclusion,

• I was able to register easily via Google integration

• I was able to generate a video from my Android smartphone's browser

• There were some stumbling blocks unique to a beginner

• Ultimately, I completed a video of higher quality than I imagined

was my experience.

In this article, for those using Pollo AI for the first time, I will introduce the process from registration to video generation and saving, along with actual smartphone screenshots.

What I made this time was a 5-second video of Rai-chan

The subject I turned into a video this time is my original character, a lion boy named 'Rai-chan'.

Originally, it was a summer vacation illustration used for coloring pages for parents and children to enjoy.

This time, I developed the coloring page image and prepared two still images to use at the beginning and end of the video.

What I made with Pollo AI is a video of Rai-chan, holding a summer-like insect net, chasing and catching a flying heart-shaped butterfly.

I want to deliver a fun thank-you from Rai-chan to those who click 'Like'.

I started production with that feeling in mind.

This is my very first time using Pollo AI

Actually, this is my first time! 🤭
I used Pollo AI.

I had never even created an account, and I did everything from registration to video generation on my Android smartphone.

The environment I used this time is as follows.

• Device used: Android smartphone

• Account registration: Browser version (Chrome)

• Video generation: Browser version (Chrome)

• Saving the video: App version

For the initial registration, I chose to link it with my Google account.

There was no difficult input, and the registration itself was very easy.

I was a bit braced for it, thinking 'AI video generation seems difficult from the registration stage,' but I was able to proceed without any hesitation.

Attention for project participants | Enter the code after registration

This time, I received a code for 300 credits to use on Pollo AI via DM from Naoyuki-san.

However, Istumbled a little at first.

When I tried to enter the code before registering for Pollo AI, it didn't work properly.

'Invalidredemption code. Please check and try again,' it said 😭

The reason was likely because Ihad not yet registered for Pollo AI.

After that, Icompleted the account registration via Google linkand entered the code again, and I was able to use it successfully.

For those registering for Pollo AI for the first time as a result of this project,

is the recommended order.

While this might not be a confusing part for those already using Pollo AI, as a complete beginner, I was a little puzzled here.

Steps for creating a video on an Android smartphone

The process I followed to create the video this time was very simple.

1. Upload the image to use at the beginning of the video

2. Upload the image to use at the end of the video

3. Enter the prompt

4. Press the 'Generate' button

5. Check the generated video

This time, I prepared still images for both the beginning and the end of the video.

The basis for these was the image of Rai-chan that I had previously created for coloring.

From there, to suit this video, I prepared:

• an image for the beginning holding a butterfly net

• an image for the finish having caught a heart

I prepared these.

I felt that the ability to develop illustrations or original characters that you already own into videos is very attractive.

The prompt is a little longer than the example

After uploading the images, I entered a prompt to tell Rai-chan how I wanted her to move.

This time, the prompt was 238 characters in Japanese.
It is quite a bit shorter than what I usually use for illustration generation.

However, compared to the example introduced in the '2nd Suki Video Contest: Summer Battle' article, I think it was a little longer.

Since it was my first time using Pollo AI,

• how detailed should I be?

• should I specify the movements in detail?

• will writing too much actually make it harder to move?

I was very worried.

I generated the video, but it won't move

I entered the images and the prompt, and pressed the 'Generate' button.

The video itself was generated successfully.

However, it doesn't move even when I press the play button.

The still image remains displayed on the screen.

The first thing I thought was,

That was it.

For a short video of about 5 seconds,

• finding a heart

• chasing it

• catching it with a bug net

I thought that maybe I had packed too much movement into it by trying to include that sequence.

After that, I continued to go through trial and error, reviewing the prompts and changing the movements.

Before I knew it, I had generated five videos.

However,none of the videos looked like they were moving just by pressing the play button🥹😭😱

Just before giving up, I tried tapping the play button repeatedly

No matter how many times I tried, it wouldn't play properly,

and I thought,

'I'll give up for today and close it for now.'

At that moment, I tried pressing the play button repeatedly as a last resort.
I tapped it frantically, wishing for it to move!😅

Then suddenly, the video screen opened in aseparate window.

And then,

it moved.

Rai-chan is moving properly.

The video I made at first wasn't a failure either.

The video itself was already complete.

On my Android smartphone, the video still doesn't play just by pressing the play button once.

After pressing it several times, something like a separate playback screen opens, and I was able to watch the video.

Whether the cause is,

• a behavior specific to Android smartphones,

• an issue with the browser I used,

• or the timing of the connection or loading,

I cannot say for sure.

However, if there is anyone else who is troubled because,

please don't immediately assume the generation failed; try pressing the play button several times.
(I quickly tap it five times in rapid succession)

At least in my environment, I was able to confirm the video that way.

※This is my experience using an Android smartphone and the browser version (Google Chrome). It does not necessarily mean the same phenomenon will occur on all devices.

'My creation is moving!!'

My impression when I first saw the completed video was,

It was.

And it's higher quality than I imagined.

Rai-chan, who was just a still image, is moving on the screen.

The experience of seeing a character I thought of myself move was a different kind of thrill compared to when I first generated the image.

"It's really moving"

"Rai-chan has become a video"

Just that alone makes me want to watch it over and over again.

I thought video generation would be difficult, but even as a first-timer, I was able to create a work like this.

Used the app version to save the video

I wanted to save the completed video to my smartphone.
When I tried to download it from the browser version, I was directed to use the app version to download it.

So, I installed the app version of Pollo AI.

As a result, my usage for this time was as follows.

• Registration and video generation: Browser version

• Downloading the completed video: App version

From the app version, I was able to save the watermarked video to my smartphone.

I was able to successfully download the video generated in the browser version using the app version.
It seems that removing the watermark is a paid feature.

Using only a smartphone,

• registration

• image upload

• prompt input

• video generation

• saving to device

I was able to complete everything.

I was able to try video generation for free.

This time, I used the 300 credits I received via DM from Naoyuki-san.

Because of that, I was able to experience Pollo AI video generation for free.

When using a service for the first time,

• whether I can use it myself

• whether I can make the video I imagined

• whether I can operate it with just a smartphone

I don't know until I actually try it.

By receiving the credits this time, I was able to try multiple videos without worrying about the cost.

As a result, I generated 5 videos before realizing how to play them (consuming about 5 credits per video), so it was a big help.

It was a very grateful opportunity for a beginner to go through trial and error💕💕💕

Good points of Pollo AI felt from a beginner's perspective

I will summarize the good points I felt after using Pollo AI for the first time.

Registration is easy with Google integration

No complex input was required, and I was able to get started easily by linking my Google account.

I was able to make a video using only my Android smartphone

I was able to proceed from registration to video generation through my smartphone browser without ever opening a PC.

I could specify the starting and ending images

When you want to make a short video with a story using your own character, as I did this time, it was convenient to be able to specify the initial and final states with images.

It is very moving to see your own character move

When a character you have only seen as an image actually moves, it feels like the world of your creation has expanded one step further.

Even a beginner was able to complete a high-quality video

Things that might be good for beginners to know in advance

Based on this experience, there are three things I would like to tell those who are using Pollo AI for the first time.

1. Enter the planning code after registration

I couldn't use it before registration, but I was able to use it when I entered it after registration.

2. Do not immediately judge it a failure if the video does not play

In my case, in the browser version, there were times when the video would not open just by pressing the play button once.

When I pressed it a few times, the playback screen opened and I was able to check the video.

(The app version... played without any problems. I wish I had just used the app version from the start...)

3. You don't have to aim for the perfect prompt from the beginning

When you are new to video generation AI, you might be unsure about prompt length or how to specify movement.

I felt it was easier to just try making one first and adjust it while looking at the actual generated results.

Also, I want to make my character move.

I used Pollo AI for the first time this time and discovered the joy of video generation.

At first, I thought,

'It's not moving'

'Maybe I failed'

I thought.

Even so, the video was actually completed properly.

And once I saw Rai-chan moving,

I started to think that.

The video I made this time is a submission for the
'2nd Like Video Contest: Summer Campaign' hosted by Naoyuki-san.

It is also the first video I have ever made.

I think there are people who are interested in video generation AI but feel that it is:

• Too difficult

• Likely requires a PC

• Unsure if I can use it

I think some people feel this way.

It's okay, it's easy.

At the very least, I was able to complete an original character video using only my Android smartphone.
