[Self-Introduction] Lulu @ Opening Up a Happy Senior Life with AI
Nice to meet you.
My name is Lulu, and I am the author of "Opening Up a Happy Senior Life with AI."
Background
I am a woman in my 60s living near Tokyo, and I worked as a programmer and systems engineer in my 20s and 30s. I was never good at math or science, and I majored in Japanese literature at junior college, but seeing an illustration in a magazine when I was a student strongly captured my heart and became the catalyst for me to step into the world of computers.
It was a vision of the future depicting a man using a device like a laptop on the veranda of an old folk house, illustrating a future where one could "work from home." While this is a common sight today, 40 years ago it felt like a fantasy. I longed for this so much that I jumped into a software company without any skills.

Later, with the spread of the internet, my dream of working from home finally came true, and I became a freelancer. However, in the process, I experienced a serious illness, which made me realize the importance of health, medicine, and nursing care. In particular, through caring for my 91-year-old mother who suffers from dementia, I feel the need for further technological development and social change.
Now that the dream I saw 40 years ago of "working from home" has been realized, I am convinced that the future I envision next will surely be realized as well. It is a future where we can live happily and youthfully, utilizing technology without being limited by age or health.
Themes of future posts and articles
In this note, I intend to introduce cutting-edge technologies that I actually use in my daily life, such as AI, smart devices, and VR goggles, and share how they can enrich the lives of the senior generation.
For example, lately I have been enjoying creative activities using ChatGPT and doing daily exercises and English study using VR goggles. I will introduce useful technologies and tools for daily life, such as smartphone apps, smart speakers, and audiobooks, while sharing specific episodes.
Vision of the future
Won't the senior life of the future be quite different from what it is now? With the evolution of medicine, AI, VR, biotechnology, etc., there is a possibility that we can live healthily, youthfully, and beautifully even at 100 years old.
It might be possible to achieve not just overcoming illness, but spending time more youthfully, beautifully, and happily through the power of technology. Especially for women, that is an exciting future, isn't it?
Even at 100, singing and dancing, interacting freely with loved ones beyond distance, and enjoying hobbies and creative pursuits at will—that is the future I am looking forward to.
Summary
In this note, I will share how technology enriches our lives based on my own experiences. And since there is still much I don't know, I want to keep my antennas up and share what I learn.
I would be happy if we could explore hints for having hope for the future and making every day fun and fulfilling together.
If you resonate with this, I would be encouraged if you could follow me. Let's enjoy and build the senior life of the future together. Thank you for your support!
