Profile Introduction
Licensed Psychologist × Physician | I want to deliver "thinking that won't be deceived"
On the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, I stood by as patients in their 50s passed away while on ventilators. That experience is the starting point for everything that led me to begin writing this note.
Alongside the medical care that saves lives, I witnessed another serious problem. The existence of people who, by believing in fake news and conspiracy theories, refused treatments they could have otherwise received and suffered as a result. The division surrounding vaccines was not just a matter of social media. It was truly affecting real lives.
The side defending and the side opposing each other, bickering and hurling insults. Why do people become so divided? At that time, I myself was on the verge of a mental breakdown. I have written about that time in the article below.
"Why do so many people believe it?"—starting from the question I held as a physician, as I repeatedly performed fact-checking using AI, I arrived at a realization. The essence of the problem is not just the "accuracy of information," but the "mechanisms of the human mind."
I also hold another national qualification in psychology as a Licensed Psychologist. By combining these two perspectives—medicine and psychology—what became clear was the fact that irresistible psychological mechanisms are deeply rooted in the background of why fake news and conspiracy theories spread.
In this note, I will deliver "thinking and actions that are hard to deceive" in an easy-to-understand way, without using difficult technical jargon.
While AI has made verifying information easier, it has also made producing fake news easier. In the era to come, the ability to discern information will be a skill required by everyone.
With my practical experience in the medical field, my knowledge of psychology, and the power of AI—I will dedicate the rest of my life to addressing this problem.
