True Name | Kazemakase Literature Club

At work, I am 'Manager'; at home, 'Dad'; to my friends, 'Hey you'; and to my wife, 'Honey'.

When did people stop calling me by my name? Nowadays, even when I hand out my business card to someone I've just met and introduce myself, the most I get is being addressed by my company name with a 'san' attached, or being called 'Manager'.

Before I knew it, the only place I was called by my full name was at the hospital reception desk.

"Keiji Senoo-san." When I am called, I feel a little bewildered. As I stand up, I think: Ah, that's right. I had a name like this. When I was a child, I didn't like this name. It had too many strokes and was hard to write. It was often misread, too. And yet, the "Keiji Senoo" that the receptionist called out so mechanically felt strangely nostalgic.

Does the hospital that examines my body recognize "Keiji Senoo," rather than the me who is playing a role?

As I was thinking about that,
I suddenly remembered the voice of my younger wife calling me "Keiji-san."
