Three Simple Steps for 'Beginners' in Content Business to Smoothly Take Their 'First Step'

◆ Introduction

I have recently released the following e-book.

This e-book is not for sale and is not available to the general public; it is distributed to my newsletter subscribers, but I will also share it here on note in several parts.

▼ This article is an excerpt from 'Chapter 5' of the book.

Note: As this article is part of a series, if you have not read the previous articles, I recommend reading the back issues first.

Simple steps to
smoothly take your first step

Once you understand the appeal and potential of the content business, the next thing you'll likely wonder is'How should I get started?'.

In this chapter, I will introduce simple steps so that even a complete beginner can take a smooth first step.

1. Decide on a theme (Passion x Skill x Needs)

The first step is to decide on a theme.

Since the content business is a business where your own knowledge and experience become the product, you first need to clarify what you will be sharing.

What is important here is to overlap the following three perspectives.

◆ Passion

Things you enjoy doing and that excite you.
This will be the driving force for consistency.

◆ Skill

Things you can do better than others.
Things you naturally give advice to others about.

◆ Needs

Things that are needed in the world.
Themes that are being searched for.
Fields where people are willing to pay.

Your theme lieswhere these three overlap.

For example...

  • "I love English and am good at teaching study methods"
    → English learning content

  • "I love cooking and am good at coming up with time-saving recipes"
→ Cooking content for busy people

  • "I have extensive sales experience and know how to get results"
    → Sales skill materials

"Passion" alone stays a hobby
"Skill" alone won't last
"Needs" alone is painful

Being conscious of the balance between these three is the shortcut to success.

(2) Start small with your "first work"

Once the theme is decided, let's create your "first work".

What is important here is to start small.

Many beginners think,"I'll release it after I've perfected it."

However, that takes too much time, and there is a high possibility that you will quit halfway through.

Your first work can be simple.

  • Write one article of about 1,000 characters on note

  • Publish one short e-book on Kindle (about 10,000 characters is enough)

  • Record a short video on your smartphone and post it to YouTube

The important thing is to gain"the experience of putting it out into the world."

It doesn't matter if there is little reaction at first.

By putting it out into the world, you can see areas for improvement and get hints that lead to the next step.

And by accumulating"small success experiences," your confidence and motivation will grow.

(3) Basic tools for distribution and sales
(note, Kindle, SNS, etc.)

When actually distributing, the following basic tools are recommended.

◆ note

Perfect as an entry point for publishing text.
You can attract customers with free articles and monetize with paid ones.
The user-friendly design makes it safe for beginners.

◆ Kindle Publishing

You can sell e-books on Amazon, one of the world's largest platforms.
In addition to royalty income, it offers significant credibility and branding benefits as an author.

◆ SNS (X, Instagram, Facebook, etc.)

Utilize as a traffic funnel to spread your content.
SNS is a 'place to be discovered by people.'
It is effective to divide roles, with note and Kindle being 'places to be read thoroughly.'

◆ Email Newsletter

A powerful tool for building a list and connecting with readers continuously.
Being aware of this from the early stages will make future business development smoother.

These tools can be used for free (note, SNS, Kindle) or at a low cost (email newsletter delivery services).

The appeal of the content business is that you can start without a large investment.

The steps a beginner should take first are simple.

  • Decide on a theme by combining what you like, what you are good at, and what there is a need for.

  • Release your 'first work' to the world, even if it is small.

  • Start publishing and selling using tools like note, Kindle, and SNS.

What is important here is'action over perfection'.

Even a small step, once taken, will pave the way to the future.

From the moment you release your first work, you are standing on a new stage as a 'creator' rather than a 'consumer'.

Once you experience that feeling, there is no turning back.

The door to an exciting future is opening.

◆ Shingan Miyamoto's "Today's First" Series

Among those who follow Miyamoto, I will introduce the latest articles from those I plan to return a "Like," "Follow," or "Comment" to first today.

There is absolutely no "selection bias" or "favoritism" from Miyamoto himself in the selection of these articles.

I will introduce the people I plan to respond to first that day in the order of the email notifications I receive from note regarding "Likes, Follows, and Comments" (in chronological order from oldest).

Currently, my articles receive at least 2,000 views per article so I started this project thinking that being featured here would, to some extent, provide access support for followers' articles and opportunities for new connections between followers.

▼ The person I plan to return a "Like" to first today is...
Sen-san!
Thank you for the Like ☺️

▼ The person I plan to return a "Follow" to first today is...
Ryu-san!
Thank you for the Follow ☺️

▼ The person I plan to return a "Comment" to first today is...
Feeble-san!
Thank you for the comment ☺️

I have received "Likes, Follows, and Comments" from many others as well.
I would love to introduce everyone, but I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude 🙇

And... next time, it might be you who is chosen.

I would be happy if you could "Follow" my account, and if you find my posts helpful, please "Like" them and leave a "Comment."

◆ Thank you for featuring in your magazine

I would like to introduce the magazines that have featured Miyamoto's articles in the past week.

Thank you all for featuring me m(_ _)m
