Don't Be Controlled by Your Smartphone! Digital Detox for Parents and Children Together Through Mindfulness
"I'm worried because my child is always looking at their smartphone..."
"I find myself checking social media too..."
In modern society, digital devices such as smartphones and computers have become indispensable.
However, while they are convenient, there are concerns about various negative effects such as
reduced concentration
sleep disorders
lack of communication
increased stress
.
It is precisely because we live in such a digital society that mindfulness becomes important.
Rethinking how we interact with digital technology through mindfulness
Mindfulness focuses your awareness on the "here and now," bringing your mind, which tends to be dependent on digital devices, back
to the real world
You can restore balance to your mind and body.
By practicing mindfulness together as parent and child, you can rethink how you interact with digital devices and lead a richer life.
Mindfulness Practices for the Digital Age
1. Create time for a digital detox

Create time to turn off smartphones together as parent and child:
For example, during dinner or for one hour before bed,
have the whole family turn off their smartphones
and enjoy conversation or reading.
Spend time in nature:
Spending time in nature
has the effect of healing digital fatigue and refreshing the mind.
On your days off, go out to parks, mountains, or the beach
and enjoy nature to the fullest.
2. Create rules for using your smartphone

Decide on usage times and locations:
Instead of using your smartphone aimlessly,
decide on specific times and places for its use.
For example,
do not touch your smartphone while studying,
and do not bring your smartphone into the bedroom.
Turn off app notifications:
Checking your smartphone every time a notification arrives
can be a cause of interrupted concentration.
Turn off notifications for apps that are not necessary.
3. Use your smartphone mindfully

Have a sense of purpose:
Instead of picking up your smartphone for no reason,
Why do you use your smartphone?
Have a clear purpose.
Be mindful of time:
Decide in advance how long you will use your smartphone
and make use of timers.
Reflect after use:
After using your smartphone,
take a moment to reflect on
how you felt and what you learned.
Value parent-child communication
Digital devices are convenient communication tools, but we must not forget the importance of communicating face-to-face.
Increase time spent with your child:
Play together
and listen to them.
Engage in physical affection...
Instead of through digital devices,
let's increase the time we spend interacting directly with our children.
Finding non-digital fun:
Beyond digital devices,
there are many things parents and children can enjoy together.
Board games,
cooking,
sports,
travel...
Let's try challenging ourselves with something new!
