🔘 Who pressed the button?
Last time
I thought about humanity. 🌏
Up until now,
future money.
future Earth.
future humanity.
I have been writing about such things.
But,
the question that remained at the end
was much simpler.
In the first place,
🔘 Who could have pressed the button? 🤔
I jump to 1 billion years later,
body and all.
Then, something strange happens.
What changed
was not me.
What changed
was the world.
The Earth has changed its form,
civilizations have been replaced,
and language and values
have become things I do not know.
In that world,
the only thing that remained in 2026
was me.
I thought I had come to the future.
But that is not the case.
The future
made me a "person of the past."
The 1-billion-year button
is not a device to go to the future.
It is not a device to return to the past either.
"What is time?"
It was a device to press that question.
Before I knew it,
the button had disappeared.
I can no longer remember
whether I pressed it
or did not press it.
But,
there is one thing I have come to understand.
More than the future 1 billion years from now,
I actually don't know
my own tomorrow.

☀️ The sun is still there
The sun's lifespan is about 10 billion years.
It is currently about 4.6 billion years old.
Therefore,
the sun 1 billion years from now will be about 5.6 billion years old.
It has not yet become a red giant (expanded).
It will become a red giant in about 5 billion years from now.
Therefore,
“1 billion years from now = swallowed by the sun” is not the case.
But Earth is in pretty big trouble😨
This is surprising.
As the sun ages,
it gradually gets brighter.
In 1 billion years,
it is predicted to be about 10% brighter than it is now.
You might think, "Only 10%?" but
it is fatal for the Earth's environment.
Things thought to happen🤔
Oceans gradually evaporate
Water vapor intensifies the greenhouse effect
Runaway greenhouse effect
Oceans disappear
Plate tectonics stop
CO2 cycle stops
Plant extinction
Oxygen levels plummet
In other words,
plants are in much more danger than humans.
🧬 What about humanity?
This is the most uncertain part.
Scientifically,
it is thought that they would almost certainly not exist.
There are three reasons.
1. Evolution
Even in 1 million years,
humanity will change significantly.
1 billion years is
10 million centuries.
It is unimaginable.
2. AI
Even 100 years from now is unpredictable.
In 1 billion years,
will it be AI, consciousness,
or an information-based life form?
3. Other planets
If civilization continues,
Mars.
Jupiter's moons.
Space colonies.
Other star systems.
There is no need to live on Earth.
🦖 For comparison
Dinosaurs existed
about 230 million years ago.
Extinction was 66 million years ago.
In other words,
the entire dinosaur era was about 160 million years.
1 billion years is about 6 times that.
🤯 The most surprising thing
Actually,
Homo sapiens have existed for about 300,000 years.
300,000 years.
Compared to 1 billion years.
About 3,300 times longer.
If
"Homo sapiens"
still existed 1 billion years from now,
that would be a miracle.

This is the most exciting part☺️
1 billion years from now,
"humanity" might not exist.
But,
will "humanity" still remain?
Bodies will change.
Intelligence will change.
Stars will change.
Even so, if someone
"Why is the sky blue?"
continues to ask,
that existence,
even if not human,
is somehow human-like.
So the true theme of the 1-billion-year button might be,
not "future humanity," but
"what determines humanity?"
