Feature description

A toggle in the settings, or in the photo-viewer screen, that allows the user to turn the new Ultra-HDR rendering mode on or off.

Why do you want this feature?

This feature would be useful for two main reasons:

(i) Ultra-HDR is not yet a widely supported or accepted format. Sharing, editing or uploading photos to social media often strips the tone map or ignores it since not many devices support Ultra-HDR. It would therefore be very useful to view the SDR version of the photo to select the ones to share/upload more easily and know what the recipient is going to see.

(ii) Any album that is a mixture of Ultra-HDR, HDR+ and SDR photos, especially of the same scene, can create a discontinuous viewing experience as Ultra-HDR photos are - by definition - much brighter, with high saturation of colours. This is a minor issue compared to issue (i).

Additional information

This toggle could be added in two ways (or both can be present): a global setting, turning off all HDR rendering, and a per-photo toggle that quickly allows the user to view the SDR base image inside the viewer screen.
