My Talk Page

[edit]

This is a polite request to stop placing notifications my talk page. Your deletionism is frankly exhausting. Blethering Scot 08:06, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

The notifications are a courtesy, and are automatically generated, but I will try to supress the next batch if I remember. What is actually more exhausting is having to nominate for deletion the large number of inappropriate categories you have created. --woodensuperman 09:40, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Stop posting on my talkpage. Inapropriate is your opinion and not mine. I have no time for people who just edit wikipedia to do what your doing. Blethering Scot 10:03, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Are you actually serious. This is the third time ive asked you to stop posting on my talk page. Blethering Scot 10:04, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
As I said, these notifications are automatically generated. I omitted to suppress one, but I removed the notification as soon as I realised. Unfortunately I cannot guarantee that this won't happen again but I will try to suppress. --woodensuperman 10:09, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Articles for Creation backlog drive

[edit]

Hello Woodensuperman:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 5000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:38, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring

[edit]

Hi! What do think will be achieved by edit-warring at Template:Pig breeds of Canada and the United States? As you must know by now, if you make a change and it is reverted, your next step (if any) is to start a discussion – usually on the talk-page – and not to just make the same edit again. But since I'm here, please note our guideline, "... a small, well-defined group of articles", "... links should be blue; dead links should be red" and "Red links can be retained in navigation templates that represent a well-defined and complete set of data ...". Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 08:58, 12 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please also note the guideline states that "Navigation templates are a grouping of links used in multiple related articles to facilitate navigation between those articles in Wikipedia". Red links are not articles and navboxes are not link farms. No navigational benefit is gained by linking to non-articles, the "complete set of data" you refer to at WP:NAVBOXES would be complete chronological sets, "years in..." kind of links, NOT non-notable animal breeds, where their omission is not misleading. WP:WTAF. --woodensuperman 09:12, 12 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
To quote WP:EXISTING in full: Red links can be retained in navigation templates that represent a well-defined and complete set of data (geographic divisions, annual events, etc.), where deleting red links would leave an incomplete and misleading result. Even then, editors are encouraged to write the article first. --woodensuperman 09:16, 12 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
And again, here and here. Would you please just stop? As you must know, the only thing usually achieved by persistent edit-warring is a block. If you believe that red links should be removed from all navboxes please seek community consensus to change our guideline to that effect. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 12:42, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
The guidelines are clear as has been pointed out to you here, and in multiple other locations. You're just choosing to cherrypick and misinterpret them. Please stop adding redlinks to navboxes. Some of the templates in this series have had undeveloped redlinks for over twelve years!!! WP:Write the article first. --woodensuperman 12:45, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Alos note Frietjes's and ChompyTheGogoat's comments at this deletion discussion regarding removal of redlinks. --woodensuperman 13:05, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
See also: Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2026_August_20#Category:Goat_breeds_originating_in_Canada. This kind of thing doesn't help anyone. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 16:40, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
(As an aside, that note is precisely the kind of confusion behind my reasoning at Template talk:Goat breeds of Canada and the United States - but like I said there, I do intend to seek a wider consensus so the reasoning can be substantiated and consistent. Possibly it should be considered for other US species as well, where clear differentiation isn't possible.) ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 16:57, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Speaking of inappropriate redlinks, will we also be creating all of the articles from Minnesota Miniature and Yucatan Miniature purely to justify their inclusion in the text? Those even violate MOS:LINKONCE. They're stubs, for crying out loud. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 16:52, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Street Fighter template

[edit]

There's an ongoing discussion on the talk page for it regarding the structure. The complaint was brought up that the current setup has a verticality issue. While you might find the design "f**king awful", there is at least some consensus between two of the users there this design is better and matches other templates of this size.

Why not jump into the conversation there instead of causing an edit war? Kung Fu Man (talk) 14:51, 18 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

I have commented there. The new design is all over the place (and misses some fundamental links, which I am in the process of adding. Why not try something in the sandbox and make some changes there. WP:BRD applies also. --woodensuperman 14:52, 18 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Explaining your reasoning for a change can also make it less likely to be reverted. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to set Preferences → Editing → Editor → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary). Thanks! – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:53, 22 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

New pages patrol September 2026 Backlog drive

[edit]
September 2026 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
  • On 1 September 2026, a one-month backlog drive for new pages patrol will begin at a particularly important time for NPP.
  • The backlog has now passed 30,000 unreviewed articles, a level that has been described in current NPP discussions as exceptionally high and potentially difficult to overcome through normal reviewing alone. Backlog drives are one of the few measures that have historically produced a noticeable reduction in the backlog, so the participation of as many active patrollers as possible will matter this month.
  • If you can review during September, please make articles your priority. Every article that is reviewed is a meaningful reduction in the backlog. With the queue at its current size, even a relatively small increase in the number of articles each patroller reviews can add up to a substantial difference over the course of the month.
  • This is a hybrid drive, so redirect reviewing is still included. Redirects can be a useful way for newer patrollers to get comfortable with NPP and can help people build up to reviewing articles. However, the main goal of this drive is to tackle the article backlog, and experienced patrollers are particularly encouraged to spend as much of their available reviewing time on articles as they can.
  • Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled.
  • Each article review will earn 1 point, while each redirect review will earn 0.2 points.
  • Streak awards will be given out based on consistently hitting point thresholds for each week of the drive.
  • Barnstars will also be granted for re-reviewing articles previously reviewed by other patrollers during the drive.
  • If you have been thinking about doing more NPP, this is an especially good month to jump in. Whether you can review a few pages or hundreds, every review helps. And if you are already an active patroller, please consider whether you can put in some additional time during September to help bring the backlog back under control.
  • Interested in taking part? Sign up here.
You're receiving this message because you are a new page patroller. To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Turkish film series

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Category:Turkish film series indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 03:24, 1 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Edit-warring, again

[edit]

You're still WP:edit-warring, most recently here. Do you have any intention of stopping, or do you want to continue until it becomes so clearly WP:disruptive that action is taken to stop you? Please note that WP:EW – unlike the various "rules" that you are trying to enforce – is a policy, and that repeatedly ignoring policy can have consequences. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:08, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

You're not actually addressing the issue, see the discussion a few sections above. The disruption is yours, wilfully creating navboxes full of redlinks, without actually creating the articles for a period of over twelve years in some places. Just WP:WTAF, then we don't have an issue. --woodensuperman 14:10, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Making such accusations while you yourself are engaging in the same behavior is in really poor taste. ChompyTheGogoat [ Bleat | Munched ] 06:13, 12 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

The edit that caught my eye was to Template:Commodore International, in which you removed the only category from a page that is required to have a category, without an explanatory edit summary. Please enable the preference described above. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:51, 22 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
