Here’s whyit’s so essential. There’s a basic concept related to success, which is, Before you can do something well you need to understand it well first. Thatmakes perfect sense, right? I mean, think about it. If you want to besuccessful in business, you should have good business sense. If you want to bereally good at marketing, you need to have good marketing sense.

Think of it as your Career Success IQ, or your understanding of what‘s most importantto pursuing and achieving your career success. Because thebetter this understanding, the better your ability to choose a career that fitsyou well, to plan your career, make better career decisions, identify good jobsituations to join, capture attractive opportunities, develop the capabilitiesthat will most impact your success. I can go on.
那么，要想在职场上变得更为成功，你也得有一个良好的“职业意识”，也就是“职商”。它就如同你的职业成功IQ，或者说是你对追求、实现职业成功关键因素的理解。对这个的理解越好，你越有能力选择一个适合你的职业，好好规划，更好地做出职业抉择，辨别优秀的公司，抓住优秀的机会，培养最能影响你成功的能力。它的好处很多，我还能一直说下去。

Now, I know many people here wantpractical, straightforward answers to solve your career problems. But trust me, improving your career sense is the mostpractical thing you can do. Because poor career sense is how people end up inbad situations in the first place. It’s why they’re in an industry, company,or job they don’t like, doing things that aren’t leading to their success, orworking for a crap boss. These are choices and decisions they made.

Through myrecruitment firm, I deal with verysuccess people all the time. And what I can tell you is that they’rebetter able to avoid these situations. Their careersense helps them make better career moves and job decisions, so they spend more of their time and effortbuilding their career success. So don’t be someone who’s always looking foranswers to fix your job and career problems. Be someone who has the careersense to avoid them.

In my career, career sense helped me toavoid a career track that didn’t fit me. I mean, I almost became a lawyer. Thatwould have been a huge mistake. It also helped me make a job decision thatchanged my life, by choosing the right platform to join over others thatoffered higher salaries and bigger titles. It’s how I got transferred to Chinafrom the U.S. Finally, career sense led to that transfer by helping me to focuson key things that helped me stand out to my boss and company.
