Xiaomi's Redmi Note series is one of its best selling series worldwide, playing a pivotal role in the brand's image and value perception. However, Xiaomi's branding, re-branding, and staggered releases leave a lot of us confused, especially for this year. Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max in India back in March 2020. The Redmi Note 9 Pro then launched globally as the Redmi Note 9S in the same month. Then, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro globally in April 2020. Adding to the device confusion is the POCO M2 Pro which has a similar set of specifications and design, and even competes in some of the same markets as the Redmi Note 9 Pro. Now, Xiaomi is launching the Redmi Note 9 in India with the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 with MediaTek Helio G85 SoC launched in India for ₹11,999 ($160)
A low-end Android purchase landed me at the XDA forums in 2011, trying to get the most out of it with the help of custom ROMs. After helping the community as a Recognized Contributor and a Forum Moderator, I started my tech journalism journey in 2015 as a writer for the Portal. And I haven't looked back from that point, moving forward and eventually taking over as XDA's Editor in Chief in 2021.
