Smartphone manufacturers handle Android updates differently, either shipping stock (or near-stock) versions of Android on their devices or choosing to build custom ROMs on top of AOSP Android. Xiaomi does the latter, and its flavor of Android, MIUI, just hit version 9. There's been MIUI 9 news from Xiaomi in the recent past, but this, the China-based smartphone maker published a list of dozens of smartphones and tablets that are slated to receive the update.

When it comes to Xiaomi's smartphone lineup, both the Xiaomi Mi Max and the Mi Max 2 will get an update to MIUI . That's just the tip of the iceberg, though -- handsets in the company's Mi lineup, including the Mi6, Mi 5s Plus, and Mi 2s, will get MIUI 9 in the near future:

Next up is the Mi MIX line, which started as a concept idea and graduated to a flagship series -- the Mi MIX and the Mi MIX 2 will both receive an update to MIUI 9. But Xiaomi's not restricting MIUI 9 to its phones. The company's Mi Pad tablets will be updated to MIUI 9, as well:

  • Mi Pad

That's the list of Xiaomi phones and tablets that'll get MIUI 9 in the coming months. The company's also testing the update for the Redmi 4 Standard Edition and Redmi 3, but didn't have details to announce on that front yet.
