Unlike in India and China where there's a wide selection of decent, low price Android smartphones, the budget phones sold in the United States are pretty awful. HMD Global is finally bringing a mid-range device that's worth talking about over to the U.S. in the Nokia 7.1, but Americans will still have to wait before there's a decent budget smartphone offering. Will the T-Mobile REVVL 2 Plus be a decent budget smartphone? Probably not, given that it's likely a re-branded Alcatel 7 that launched on MetroPCS earlier this year. But hey, if you're looking for a cheap device that works on T-Mobile, you might be interested in picking one of these up.

Last year, TCL Communications manufactured the REVVL and REVVL Plus for T-Mobile. The REVVL sported the MediaTek MT6738 SoC with 2GB RAM, a 5.5-inch HD display, a 3,000mAh battery, and Android 7.0 Nougat. The REVVL Plus sported the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC with 2GB RAM, a 6.0-inch FHD display, a 3,380mAh battery, and Android 7.0 Nougat. The REVVL 2 Plus, which is very likely a re-branded Alcatel 7, could have the MediaTek MT6763T (Helio P23) SoC with 2GB RAM, a 6.0-inch FHD+ display, a 4,000mAh battery, and Android 8.1 Oreo. In addition, the REVVL 2 Plus should have a dual rear camera setup compared to the single rear camera of the REVVL and REVVL Plus.

While we don't have any definitive proof that the device is launching soon, that the device has recently shown up on the Google Play Console is a good sign that it will. Before today, the Google Play Console listed this device as the TCL 6062W with code-name A70AXLTMO. The reason why I believe the REVVL 2 Plus is a re-branded Alcatel 7 is because the device with model number 6062W has appeared in benchmarks with the MediaTek MT6763T, the render submitted to the Play Console matches the marketing render posted on the Alcatel 7's product page, and the FCC submission for the device shows the same model number and design.
