As the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, Samsung caters to millions of users worldwide. But only a handful of them may be aware that Samsung also allows for a highly customizable experience through a suite of officially developed mods, called Good Lock. The practical significance of this set of mods extends beyond lockscreen customizations, which seems to be the case from the name. It is meant to allow power users to take greater control over their Samsung flagships such as Galaxy S9/S9+, Galaxy Note 9, or one of the Galaxy S10's. Samsung just released an update to the Good Lock app, bringing a host of new customization options such as a "Slim" recents list, "advanced features" for floating notifications in multi-window view and some "quick tools" and "actions" for single-handed usage.

Among the new additions, the Good Lock update brings the new, slimmer recents which shows currently running apps in a list view without any screenshots. Additionally, the One Hand Operations+ module now supports "Quick Tools", which seems to be a customizable pop-up launcher for favorite apps, "Quick Actions" which can let you start an action without lifting your thumb, and new actions to control brightness, flashlight, or media playback. Meanwhile, there's now a separate "Advanced features" menu for the floating notifications - now given a fancy name "Smart Pop-up View" and supported as a basic feature. The advanced options are likely to be supported in during the improved split-screen usage, as well.

Aside from the new features, the update fixes alignment of the custom navigation buttons in the NavStar module and improves how floating notification work in multi-window view and on the lockscreen. The update also improves the working of QuickStar module which comes in handy for changing the appearance and transparency of the Quick settings pane as well as the navigation bar. Lastly, the performance of the modules for lockscreen customization and single-handed usage are overhauled as well.

One caveat to the Good Lock functionality is that it is officially limited to regions such as Korea, Canada, the USA, Singapore, and Australia. But, NiceLock developed by XDA Senior Member xantrk overcomes this limitation as an unofficial extension to all of Samsung's markets. The new features are also available via NiceLock - in fact, that's where the screenshot come from.
