Realme started off as an Oppo sub-brand, but has since matured enough in the Indian market to find its own space. While there's still ample reliance on Oppo, as is evident from the shared ColorOS custom UX skin, Realme devices have resonated well with users who are looking for a brand with an active community in the early segments of the market, but who do not want to opt for Xiaomi. More choice is always good, and Realme brings real value in this case. As the company had previously promised, Android Pie is now available for the Realme 2 and the Realme C1 in the form of a beta build of ColorOS 6.

A low-end Android purchase landed me at the XDA forums in 2011, trying to get the most out of it with the help of custom ROMs. After helping the community as a Recognized Contributor and a Forum Moderator, I started my tech journalism journey in 2015 as a writer for the Portal. And I haven't looked back from that point, moving forward and eventually taking over as XDA's Editor in Chief in 2021.
