The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K is a rather affordable streaming dongle from Amazon that offers 4K video capabilities to connected devices. You also have the ability to use Alexa voice commands, and the Fire TV Stick 4K also supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos soundtracks, so the end package ends up being a surprisingly well-equipped piece of hardware and a worthy investment. Now, Amazon is making this an even better investment by pushing out a software update that brings support for Miracast screen mirroring.

As reported by AFTVNews, the new Fire OS 6.2.6.3 software update rolling out to the device has added in support for screen mirroring through the Miracast standard. This will allow consumers with compatible phones, tablets, and computers to wirelessly mirror their device's screen to the Fire TV Stick 4K.

Screen mirroring support was available on earlier Fire TV models such as the Fire TV Stick 2 and Fire TV 2, but the feature was dropped when Fire OS 6 arrived. This new update is the first time screen mirroring has been made available on modern Fire TV hardware and Fire OS 6.

You can enable screen mirroring on Fire TV hardware by holding down the home button on the remote to bring up the shortcut menu. Alternatively, you can also navigate to Settings > Display & Sounds > Enable Screen Mirroring. The device doing the mirroring also needs to support the Miracast standard, which, unfortunately, is not as widely seen these days. But if you have compatible hardware, at least now it can be done.
