Doctoral College

Working to improve the PGR Student Experience.

About the Doctoral College

The Doctoral College provides dedicated support and expert guidance to enhance the Postgraduate Research (PGR) experience at Newcastle University. We work in close collaboration with a wide range of PGR-focused colleagues across all academic units and professional services across the institution.

“Our vision is to embed PGR students at the centre of our activities, providing them with leading-edge education, training and development that will allow them to flourish in many different futures. Our PGR students will be enabled to contribute fully to our research excellence and impact by advancing knowledge, working with our partners, and providing creative solutions to regional, national and global challenges.”

The Doctoral College's core responsibilities include implementing the PGR Strategic Plan, overseeing cross-University change projects, supporting initiatives that enhance PGR research and development, and delivering the PGR Supervisor Development Programme. Explore the sections below to learn more.

We are pleased to share our new Postgraduate Research (PGR) Strategic Delivery Plan, developed over the past two years with input from students and staff. The plan sets out how we will place PGR students more firmly at the heart of the University, recognising your vital contribution to research, culture, and societal impact. The Doctoral College webpages will evolve to show how we are implementing the plan as we progress through our priority actions.
