Harnessing the power of the stars 🌠 A special collection of five papers, written collaboratively by a global team of 58 scientists, offers an in-depth examination of the scientific foundations of Commonwealth Fusion Systems' (CFS) ARC fusion power plant. The research, published in the 'Journal of Plasma Physics', confirms the key physics that will enable ARC to continuously deliver 400 megawatts (MW) of net electricity to the grid. Speaking about the research, Alex Creely, Chief Engineer for ARC Conceptual Design at CFS, said: "These papers show why CFS and our partners are confident in the physics underlying the ARC fusion power plant. Designing a fusion power plant that we truly intend to build soon meant that we had to ask the right questions, sharpen our tools, and focus on the top priority information that SPARC will teach us."
