This caching reduces expensive disk I/O operations and enables features like auto-completion, real-time error checking, and quick file navigation to function smoothly. VSCode leverages an efficient file watching system (File Watching) to monitor changes on disk, allowing it to synchronize its cache with external edits almost instantly.
