PH69409: DISPLAY PROBLEMS IN CODE COVERAGE REPORT IN PDF FORMAT FOR PROGRAMS CONTAINING JAPANESE CHARACTERS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• 2 problems have been reported:
  
  1) layout misalignment for lines containing Japanese text
  2) some Japanese characters are replaced by the hash symbol (#)
  

Local fix

• start headless Code Coverage collector as follows:
  /usr/lpp/IBM/debug/headless-code-coverage/bin/ccstart.sh -a=TRUE
  -o="$REPORT_DIR" -nl ja
  
  The collector will run in Japanese, and PDF reports will be in
  Japanese. The entire report will be using the IBMPlexSansJP,
  which will fix both issues.

Problem conclusion

• The IBMPlexSans-Bold font has been updated and the Japanese font
  auto-detection logic has been corrected to ensure Japanese
  characters are correctly aligned and displayed.
  
  This problem is fixed in versions 17.0.4 of the
  following products:
  - IBM Debug for z/OS
  - IBM Developer for z/OS
  - IBM Developer for z/OS Enterprise Edition
