Abstract

The SQL Error Logging Facility (SELF) provides a technique for Db2 for i users to understand, study, and resolve SQL errors and warnings.

Enhanced with IBM i 7.6 SF99960 Level 3 & IBM i 7.5 SF99950 Level 12: 

  • Users can view rows in SQL_ERROR_LOG added by their own user ID
  • The key used to identify duplicate rows is expanded to include the statement operation

Enhanced with IBM i 7.6 SF99960 Level 2 & IBM i 7.5 SF99950 Level 11: 

  • QSYS2.SQL_ERRORT table is pruned using the SYSIBMADM.QIBM_SELF_BY_DAYS global variable

Enhanced with IBM i 7.6 SF99960 Level 1 & IBM i 7.5 SF99950 Level 9 & IBM i 7.4 SF99704 Level 30: 

  • Logging can be ended for all jobs
Enhanced with IBM i 7.5 SF99950 Level 5 & IBM i 7.4 SF99704 Level 26:
  • Logging can be requested for all error SQLCODEs (*ERROR), all warning SQLCODEs (*WARN), or all errors and warnings (*ALL)
  • SQL_ERROR_LOG includes thread ID
