How do you collect a supportsave from a Brocade switch?
Cause
A Brocade switch supportsave is needed by IBM support to look into issues related to SAN.
Answer
To collect logs from Broadcom switches you have two options. You can download a utility that will collect logs automatically or you can collect the logs manually.
Automatic Log Collection:
Manual Log Collection:
Manually collecting supportsaves from the switch CLI requires that you have an internal FTP/SFTP or SCP server in your network. This document includes both a short video that shows the process, and written instructions.
1. Log on to the switch as admin using telnet or ssh.2. At the command prompt type: supportsave3. You are prompted as: a) the IP address of your FTP server. b) the user name/password for your FTP server. c) to select a protocol : FTP d) the remote directory on FTP server.4. The files generated by this command are compressed before being sent off the switch. You can then compress these files together before sending to IBM Support.Example:IBM_2498_B40:FID128:admin> supportsaveThis command collects RASLOG, TRACE, supportShow, core file, FFDC dataand then transfer them to a FTP/SCP/SFTP server or a USB device.This operation can take several minutes.NOTE: supportsave will transfer existing trace dump file first, then automatically generate and transfer latest one. There will be two trace dump files transferred after this command.OK to proceed? Port error counters on switch ports are cumulative. Clear the port statistics on switch after the supportsave collection. This way we have a good baseline to investigate an ongoing issue. Using the graphical interface doesn't clear the internal ASIC stats so the command-line option must be used. After clearing the stats, wait 1-3 hours or for a reoccurrence of the issue before you collect a second set of data from the switches.
1. If the FOS version is v7.3 or greater use the command

2. For FOS versions that are less than than v7.3 use the commands
