Mallory was the representative for Virginia’s 1st congressional district and was a Whig. He served from 1839 to 1843.

He was previously the representative for Virginia’s 1st congressional district as a Whig from Sept. 4, 1837 to March 3, 1839.

Legislators who enslaved Black people

Mallory was among more than 1,800 legislators who enslaved Black people. The Washington Post compiled the first database of slaveholding members of Congress by examining thousands of pages of census records and historical documents. Mallory was one of them.
