How to Disable Annoying Ads on Windows 11
These methods work not only on Windows 11 but are also applicable (with slight variations) to Windows 7, 8, and 10.
Method 1: Disable Ads from the Lock Screen
The lock screen may display promotional content and tips from Microsoft.
Steps:
- Press Win + I to open Settings
- Go to Personalization → Lock Screen
- Under Personalize your lock screen, select Picture or Slideshow
- Uncheck “Get fun facts, tips, tricks, and more on your lock screen”

Method 2: Disable Ads from the Start Menu
Windows may show suggested apps or promotions in the Start Menu.
Steps:
- Open the Start Menu
- Right-click on the unwanted app
- Select Unpin from Start or Uninstal

- If uninstalling, confirm by clicking Uninstall
Method 3: Disable Ads from Search
Windows Search can show web results and promotional highlights.
Steps:
- Press Win + I → Privacy & Security → Search permissions
