The IPL began as an ambitious concept 16 years ago and has since evolved into the world’s best Twenty-20 cricket league. The IPL was started in 2008 and has been conducted annually from March to May every year. This grand cricket event draws participation from top-ranked players across the globe.

2008 - Rajasthan Royals
In the inaugural IPL, Rajasthan Royals led by Shane Warne emerged victorious. The team comprised experienced players like Shane Watson, Graeme Smith, Yusuf Pathan, and Sohail Tanvir. In the final against CSK, Yusuf Pathan's all-around performance stood out, taking 3 key wickets and contributing a quick 56 from 39 balls.
2009 - Deccan Chargers
Under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist, Deccan Chargers clinched the title. Pragyan Ojha played a vital role with his left-arm spin, taking 18 wickets. Gilchrist's batting prowess was evident as he amassed 495 runs in 16 matches, ranking second in the run-scorers list.
2010 - Chennai Super Kings
Led by MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings secured the championship. Suresh Raina, Albie Morkel, Mathew Hayden, and Muralitharan were key members. The final against Mumbai Indians saw Raina's unbeaten 57* guiding CSK to victory.
2011 - Chennai Super Kings
The fourth season of the IPL included ten teams separated into two groups. Teams from Pune and Kochi were added as new teams. A page play-off mechanism was implemented. The last IPL match of this season was contested in Chennai between Chennai Super Kings (Winner) and Royal Challengers Bangalore. This time, Chris Gayle received an orange cap for being the best run-scorer, and Lasith Malinga received the purple cap as the highest wicket-taker.
2012 - Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders, captained by Gautam Gambhir, overcame Chennai Super Kings in the final. Manvinder Bisla's fearless 89 off 48 balls played a major role in chasing a challenging total of 190 runs. Chris Gayle received an orange cap for being the highest run-scorer, and Morne Morkel received a purple cap for being the highest wicket-taker. Sunil Narine was the player in the match.
2013 - Mumbai Indians
The final match of the sixth season of the IPL 2013 was held between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, who won after defeating CSK. Morne Morkel received the purple cap for taking the most wickets, while Michael Hussey received the orange cap for scoring the most runs. Shane Watson of RR was named the series' Man of the Year.
2014 - Kolkata Knight Riders
The seventh season of the IPL 7 was conducted in India and the IPL 2014 final match was played between Kolkata Knight Riders (Winner) and Kings XI Punjab this season. As the highest run-scorer, Robin Uthappa received an orange cap, while Mohit Sharma received a purple cap. Glen Maxwell was the series' top player among the eight teams.

2016 - Sunrisers Hyderabad
The IPL 9 season was conducted in India for the ninth time. This season's IPL 2016 final match saw Sunrisers Hyderabad (Winner) against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals were barred from playing this season. 2017 - Mumbai Indians
The IPL's tenth season was conducted in India. The 2017 IPL final was contested this season between Mumbai Indians (Winner) and Pune. 2018 - Chennai Super Kings

2019 - Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians have won one more game this season. In the past, it was the most active side in the Indian Premier League. In the final, Mumbai Indians defeated the squad of Chennai Super Kings for the fourth time in 2019. Mumbai has had a 2-1 record in the last 3 tournaments, defeating the opponents in 2013, and then in 2015, and losing once again in 2010.
2020 - Mumbai Indians
The IPL 2020 season was a big success for the Indian cricket board. From September through November, the IPL 2020 was hosted in Abu Dhabi, Dubai. On the night of the finals, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals to win the IPL 2020 title. MI won the championship for the fifth time. The Mumbai Indians were captained by Rohit Sharma and dominated the season.
2021 - Chennai Super Kings
In the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings won the trophy for the fourth time by defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders; before, they had done it in 2010, 2011, and 2018.
In the final match of the IPL 2021, Faf du Plessis was named Man of the Match. Harsha Patel was named Man of the Series for the IPL 2021 season.
2022 - Gujarat Titans
In TATA IPL 2022, we witnessed a new squad and a new champion. Gujarat Titans won the IPL 15 after defeating Rajasthan Royals in the championship game. Hardik Pandya was named Man of the Match, while Jos Butler of the Rajasthan Royals was named Player of the Series.
2023 - Chennai Super Kings
In 2023, the Chennai Super Kings once again won the IPL trophy. They defeated the Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the final of IPL 2023. However, rain interrupted the match after only three balls were bowled in the first over, with the scoreboard showing only four runs.
2024 - Kolkata Knight Riders
In the TATA IPL 2024 Final, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged victorious by defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with a dominant eight-wicket margin at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This win marked KKR’s third IPL trophy. Previously, KKR had won the IPL trophy in 2012 and 2014.
