Present PowerPoint Slides Online with Teams and Zoom

Last Updated : 30 Sep, 2026

You can present your PowerPoint slides online during virtual meetings using Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Teams offers a superior experience with PowerPoint Live, while Zoom relies mainly on screen sharing.

Present in Microsoft Teams

PowerPoint Live gives you a dedicated presenter view with speaker notes, while the audience sees clean slides. It also uses less bandwidth than regular screen sharing.

Method A: From within a Teams meeting

Step 1: Join or start your Teams meeting.

Useful Presenter Features in Teams

  • View your speaker notes privately
  • See upcoming slides and a slide grid
  • Use laser pointer, pen, and highlighter
  • Choose layout options (Content only, Standout, or Cameo)
  • Audience can independently navigate slides, translate text, or use high-contrast mode

Present in Zoom

Zoom does not have a native PowerPoint Live feature, so the standard method is screen sharing.

Step 1 : Open your PowerPoint presentation and start the slide show (F5 or Slide Show → From Beginning).

Tips for Zoom

  • Use dual monitors if possible: put Presenter View on one screen and the slide show on the other, then share only the slide show screen.
  • If you have only one monitor, start the slide show first, then share the screen.
  • Press Alt + Tab (Windows) or Command + Tab (Mac) to switch between Zoom controls and PowerPoint if needed.
  • To stop sharing, click Stop Share in the Zoom toolbar.
