Best format: MP4 files encoded with H.264 video and AAC audio offer the best compatibility.

Once inserted, the video is embedded in the presentation file (file size will increase).

Method 2: Insert an Online Video (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)

Step 1: Go to the slide where you want the video.

Step 4: Click Insert.

The video streams from the internet when you present, so an internet connection is required during the slideshow. This method keeps your PowerPoint file size small.

Control How the Video Plays

After inserting the video, select it to open the Playback tab (or Video Format / Playback tools). Here you can set:

  • Play: Choose whether the video begins when you click it, automatically when the slide appears, or as part of the click sequence.

  • Play Full Screen: Makes the video expand to fill the entire screen during playback. These changes are visible when the presentation is played in Slide Show mode.
