Sync Slicers in Power BI

Last Updated : 16 Feb, 2026

Sync Slicers in Power BI allow you to synchronize slicer selections across multiple report pages, making your reports more interactive and consistent. This feature saves time and enhances the user experience by keeping filters uniform throughout the report. Sync Slicers allow slicer selections made on one report page to automatically apply to other pages.

  • Maintain a consistent filter context across multiple pages.
  • Eliminate repetitive filter selection on each page.
  • Improve navigation in multi-page reports.
  • Deliver a seamless and professional analytical experience.

How to Set Up Sync Slicers in Power BI

Here are the steps to set up Sync Slicers in Power BI and apply the same filter across multiple report pages

5. Set the slicer’s visibility if needed, then navigate between the pages to verify that the selection from Page 1 is automatically applied on the new page.

Step 3: Copy and Auto-Sync Slicer

  1. Copy the slicer from Page 1.
  2. Paste it onto another report page.
  3. Power BI automatically synchronizes the slicer with the original one.

This method is quicker and does not require manually configuring the Sync Slicers pane.

Checking Filter Consistency Across Pages

After configuring Sync Slicers, it is important to verify that the synchronization is functioning as expected. Follow these steps to test it:

1. Go to Page 1 of your report.

2. Select a value in the slicer. Observe how the visuals on Page 1 update based on your selection.

4. If the slicer is visible on that page, confirm that the same value is selected.

5. Repeat this process for all pages where Sync is enabled.

Managing Sync and Visibility in Sync Slicers

Sync Slicers in Power BI offer two key controls that help manage how slicers behave across multiple report pages. These settings allow you to control both filtering behavior and visual appearance independently.

1. Sync

The Sync option determines whether the slicer selection is applied across selected report pages.

  • Applies the same filter selection to multiple pages.
  • Ensures consistent data filtering throughout the report.
  • Useful for maintaining a unified user experience across dashboards.
  • Can be enabled for specific pages only .
  • Works even if the slicer is hidden on a synced page.

When Sync is enabled, any change made in one slicer automatically updates the data on all synced pages.

2. Visibility

The Visibility option controls whether the slicer is displayed on a particular page.

  • Shows or hides the slicer visual on selected pages.
  • Does not affect filtering behavior (only appearance).
  • Helpful for keeping report pages clean and uncluttered.
  • Allows background filtering without displaying the slicer.
  • Can be combined with Sync for flexible report design.

For example, you can sync a slicer across three pages but choose to display it on only one page while still applying the filter to the others.

Advantages

  • Ensures consistent filtering across multiple report pages.
  • Improves user experience by avoiding repeated filter selection.
  • Saves time by reducing the need to create separate slicers for each page.
  • Maintains data accuracy by preventing mismatched filters.
  • Allows flexible control over slicer visibility without affecting filtering.
  • Keeps report design clean and organized.
