How to Edit Pages in Power BI

Customizing the page background, canvas, wallpaper and filter pane in Power BI helps you create reports that are not only informative but also visually appealing and professional. Proper use of colours, images and transparency improves readability, enhances branding and delivers a better user experience.

  • Canvas: The main area where visuals (charts, tables, cards) are placed.
  • Wallpaper: The outer area surrounding the canvas, visible when the page width is smaller than the report view.
  • Filter Pane: The panel on the right that lets users filter data at the report, page or visual level, improving usability and consistency with the report theme.

Setting Up the Canvas Background

The canvas background defines the primary look and feel of your report page.

Changing the Canvas Background Colour

  • Click on an empty area of the report canvas
